I'm not going to hold out much hope of Jonny or Guy evolving into good interesting musicians so I will stick to Radiohead being the best out of the list provided.

well Jony what do we mean by at the moment? do we mean the quality of their latest music? how good their live shows are?

 

Radiohead's latest album was no where near their best, u2 (they're not even british) and coldplays last two have been below par and oasis dont even exist. so i choose not to vote because Foals are the best british band at the moment. they had the best british album of 2010 and their live shows since then have been nothing short of awe-inspiring. incredible musicianship, great melodies, unique vocals and the group has perfect chemistry. "at the moment" the 4 you listed pale in comparison.

Yes. The best music is never temporary. It is The Beatles at the moment, and will be tomorrow and the day after, until a band comes along that becomes more iconic, more influential, and with better songs. Which isn't going to happen.

If the question were "What's the best currently active British band?" I'd say Radiohead based on how how much of an effect they have had on musicians and music lovers over the past twenty years.

Out of all the bands listed latest albums, I'd say Coldplay's 4th is the best out of the lot.

 

But if we're talking currently because Coldplay aren't around releasing music I'd say it's Radiohead v Elbow. And based on their current releases Elbow easily beat all the competition. So I'd say Elbow right now. Coldplay in the autumn maybe!

Well The Beatles and The Smiths. Not only the greatest but probably the two most influential as well! Abbey Road and The Queen Is Dead = deadly orgasm.

Think Guy's work with Apparatjik qualifies him to be a lot more interesting and talented than most musicians.

yeah i was going to mention Elbow. they've been consistently brilliant for almost 10 years now.
