May 22, 201115 yr There isn't a proper thread (that I could find, anyway) about these guys so I thought I'd start one up. For those of you who don't know them, Friendly Fires are an English "dance-punk" band hailing from St Albans, and they're AWESOME. Their debut self-titled album was released back in 2008, featuring songs such as: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofRCldHb7X0]Friendly Fires - Jump in the Pool[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyA8zfouG4Y]Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy[/ame] And on the deluxe version, this little gem: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK0H3jEwUYc]Friendly Fires - Kiss of Life[/ame] Their sophomore release 'Pala' was released just last week and in my opinion it's equally as good! May 22, 201115 yr How in the world do these guys not have a thread already? :surprised: I'm glad you made one, Grace. :D
May 23, 201115 yr Author Me too :wacky: But seriously, 40 views and only one reply? C'mon guys, share the love! :D
May 23, 201115 yr Author I know other people on here like them, it's just gonna be up to us to coax them out :awesome:

June 1, 201115 yr Right, you've got me out of the woodwork. I didn't even realise there wasn't a thread man. Anyway, I am excite to see them in the summer. I don't know whether to see them in November at one of their O2 Academy gigs.
June 2, 201115 yr I just started listening to them very recently, Jump In The Pool has got this unexplainable hold on me... I need to listen to their last album though, but so far, me gusta
June 2, 201115 yr Author Right, you've got me out of the woodwork. I didn't even realise there wasn't a thread man. Anyway, I am excite to see them in the summer. I just started listening to them very recently, Jump In The Pool has got this unexplainable hold on me... I need to listen to their last album though, but so far, me gusta  That's the first FF song I fell in love with, too :awesome:
June 4, 201115 yr Just saw Friendly Fires in DC last week and they were great! I am only just getting to know their music, and was so impressed with their performance. After the gig, my friends and I went to Uncapped Live (a popup club venue) for the drummer's DJ gig. He was awesome and it was such a fun night :) Can't wait to hear about their upcoming shows, be sure to post here how they were!
June 4, 201115 yr Author :awesome: Aren't they fun live? I can't wait to see them in a couple of months' time!
June 4, 201115 yr :awesome: Aren't they fun live? I can't wait to see them in a couple of months' time! I don't think I have bounced that much at a concert before, that's for sure :D We were right up front too, it was mental! You're in for a great show, the new songs are ace live :)
June 5, 201115 yr Author I've actually seen a lot of the new songs live, it's just that I saw them earlier in the year before the album was released so I didn't know any of them. Which means they're just going to be even more amaaaaazing!!! :D
June 7, 201115 yr Kiss Of Life is mint. If I like that should I download the 2 albums? Which is better?
June 7, 201115 yr ^Ohhh it depends on what you're looking for. I find Pala (the second) a bit more pop orientated. Friendly Fires always comes across a little more synth electro vibes. If you want more like Kiss of Life you'd be safer going the debut and then working your way around to Pala I'd say.
June 7, 201115 yr Author ^Agreed. 'Friendly Fires' is more punk (in a dancey way) and 'Pala' is more pop. They're both well-worth checking out though. I think Kiss of Life isn't quite representative of either of the albums though. Probably moreso the first, but it's still a bit different to any of the songs on there.
June 9, 201115 yr Author ^Yes, I REALLY need to listen to that... More of the Lightbox session is up: [ame= ] [/ame]
June 9, 201115 yr I just found out at almost midnight last night that I'm spontaneously seeing Friendly Fires on Jimmy Kimmel tonight. MUST. BEGIN. LISTENING. RAMPAGE. Downloaded Pala. Giving that a whirl first.
June 10, 201115 yr Okay, that was pretty cool. 5 songs, which was more than I expected for a comedy show concert. Ed's dancing was entertaining as hell. For something that was FREE, I'd say it was time well spent.
