June 15, 201115 yr Ok, this thread probably already exists, but I can't be bothered looking :dozey: (If a mod wants to merge it with another one, that's fine :) ) Based on a tweet I've just seen, what was the first single and first album you ever bought? My first single (7inch vinyl because I'm old!) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B2a6l6wM2k]YouTube - Adam & The Ants - Stand And Deliver[/ame] Stand and Deliver, Adam & the Ants And my first album (think the Coldplay boys would approve of this one ;) ) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914]YouTube - A-Ha - Take On Me (OFFICIAL VIDEO)[/ame] Take on Me, from the album Hunting High & Low, A-ha
June 15, 201115 yr Don't have vinyl because I'm normal. The first album I remember buying with my own money is: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NlT-ELVWk0]YouTube - Billy Gilman - One Voice[/ame]
June 15, 201115 yr Author Normal? :o I think I prefer being though of as old that abnormal So what kind of music does Billy perform? I'm guessing from the picture that he's a bit different to Coldplay? :D
June 16, 201115 yr We can't find singles here. First album (as a gift): Millennium(Backstreet Boys) :dazzled: First album I bought with my own money: A Rush Of Bood To The Head.. or maybe a Strokes album, I can't remember

June 16, 201115 yr Single: not really sure, perhaps it was Nude-Radiohead?!?! Album: I think it was either Imagine-John Lennon or Who Are You?-The Who
June 16, 201115 yr I could've sworn Bryce made a similar thread. Yes, I think he made a "First & Last Album You Bought" thread or something. But anyway. Single: I don't buy singles. Album: The first album I bought myself was "Songs About Jane" by Maroon 5.
June 16, 201115 yr single: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWedHjSsjZA]YouTube - Westlife - Uptown Girl with lyrics[/ame] album: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qz57Ucb02yo]YouTube - A1 - Caught In The Middle[/ame] I haven't been hip ALL my life...:P
June 16, 201115 yr Author Interesting that some people are saying "I don't buy singles". I wonder if that's a generational/technology thing - are you all kids of the dowload age? I was a kid in the 80's and I tended to buy singles rather than albums because it took me so long to save for an album (there's 4 or 5 years between my fist single and first album) Also interesting to see all the pop acts we were in to before Coldplay came along :P
June 16, 201115 yr Actually, for me, I just don't see the point of getting singles in general. If I want music, I'm going to get an album's worth, not one song. Ionno.
June 16, 201115 yr Single: Probably Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart (on 45) Record: Michael Jackson's Thriller (on vinyl)
June 16, 201115 yr this is quite embarrassing :ashamed: at first i did buy 3 singles at once 1):heart::heart::p 2) 3) and some techno dj remix of the titanic title song which i cant find the cover of :) and a few weeks later i got my first albums..
June 16, 201115 yr Never bought a single  First album as a gift: S Club 7 - S club I loved that album so much  First album I bought was S Club 7 - '7'
June 16, 201115 yr No singles here... :/ But I better not say my first album. :embarrassed: I was a kid then......and it was...an Avril Lavigne album  :embarrassed: Yeah, I changed my whole music taste since then...:)
June 16, 201115 yr I remember when i was getting my first single (Uptown Girl - Westlife) my parents said, do you want cd or tape? and i looked up at the shelves and it seemed like such a big choice. I studied them both for what seemed like forever then somehow chose tape? I don't know why, maybe i was actually a hipster then, but i just didn't know it? I still have the tape.
June 16, 201115 yr First single: pffttt no First album: Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park when i was 11 or 12. still listen to it sometimes. i particularly love the EP they released the year before.
