October 10, 200322 yr I prefer Coldplay (it's obvious) because I feel better listening Coldplay, but respect their work (radiohead). I like some their songs. (Creep, Go To Sleep, Karma Police, Fake Plastic Trees) I think that are different bands and also Stiles of play. ;) Sorry, but don't know speaking english very well :embarrased:

October 10, 200322 yr your english was fine. it wasn't perfect, but i'm sure everybody understood it fine.
October 11, 200322 yr Its hard to talk about who is better coz its all subjective, but broadly speaking I think Radiohead are a more creative group and probably clock more hours in my stereo than any other band. They have written some brilliant songs, are able to constantly reinvent their sound, and, at least for me are able to connect with me on a deeper level than most music. I dont think radiohead is going to float everyones boat, but they do it for me. Having said that I feel like Coldplay are a breath to fresh air a music scene that has in the past tended to see uplifiting and heartwarming songs as somehow lesser than the seriousness of a band like Radiohead. Chris has a really soulful, warm voice, and the band are like a flash of colour on a grey canvas (to be artsy  ) yet they dont fall into the trap of being cliched or bland. Also Coldplay have not been around for long at all compared to radiohead. Give them time, since Rush of Blood was aready a brilliant album who knows what material they will be capable of in 5 years :)
October 11, 200322 yr isn't it Jah the great? (notice the h) Are you taking about pronunciation (sp)?? It's supposed to be pronounced "Jay". Its short for my real name, Jason. ;)
October 11, 200322 yr the differences between radiohead...............................coldplay ================........================= pessimistic..............................optimistic dark.......................................bright ok being underground.............we want to be heard old & mature..........................young & fun mainly guy fans......................mainly girl fans fans are closed-minded...........fans are open-minded complicated layered sound......stripped down, 4 instruments a little piano, lotta electronics..a lotta piano, only synth backgrounds pop is dead............................pop is what it is (there's some good stuff out there) obscure influences..................classic influences will not do covers...................will do many covers we are serious artists...............we are in a rock band (cool!) hate the media.......................media is our friend i am not a celebrity.................celebrities are just people "the new pink floyd"..............."the new U2" why are we comparing these bands again? oh yeah............ radiohead & coldplay ====================== from britian heart-felt, sincere music big in america (hard to fucking do) became popular after one big single, semi-regretted it put out better, louder 2nd album that was more cohesive not afraid to be subtle and quiet not afraid to rock out great live band focuses around singer who plays variety of instruments went to college together sell well around the world better than 90% of the shit thats on the radio
October 11, 200322 yr ps both are great bands and they both are two of my favs. that said i will always be a bigger Coldplay fan because it is a better fit. Plus its just nice seeing a band develop like Coldplay has and that will continue to. Plus I think if a lot of people could choose they would have hoped for a different direction from Radiohead if they could choose.
October 15, 200322 yr Radiohead and coldplay are, IMO, the best bands around. I was always in doubt on wich I like best but, after seeing Coldplay live, I was sure I prefer Coldplay. it's kinda hard to explain why, specially beacuse I've never seen Radiohead live (and I'm starting to believe they'll never come to brazil :( ), but I think it is beacuse of Chris' vibe... I felt such a great vibe during their concert... and i'm not talking about the lyrics or the songs themselves. It's just that... what can I say.... awww I can't explain!!!! Coldplay wants to pass a different message... the point of radiohead songs is totally different! i think no one will understand what i'm trying to say... :P
October 15, 200322 yr The thing with Coldplay next album is that (as has been said before) there almost soley compared to Radiohead. Coldplay, coming up on their thir album will have to do something special- but that something has to be without any help of computers - lest they be deemed awful radiohead ripoffists. It will be interesting what direction they take, as long as the rest of the band have equal (or more) input in the songwriting - i think it will be very neat. indeed. Also on the songwriting bit - Chris will have (hopefully) gotten over the bulk of his dreamy lovesongs (though i love them as they are) and move into other area's of songwriting. Personally, i think the writing/musicianship on the first album were loads better than rbtth. Anyway.
October 16, 200322 yr personally I feel that Radiohead ARE the best band of the times with Coldplay leading a chasing pack... but it's unfair to compare them too closely as Radiohead have over twice the time in the industry behind them now - I just love them both in many ways :D That's how I feel. I think Coldplay has made two very good albums. A lot of the music today is as usual, catchy but simple. Coldplay has some great music along with a superior singer IMO. I think as Hicksy said, Coldplay is relatively new in the industry, and given time we will be able to better compare. I think they will have a good mix on their next album of some new/progressive music as well as some of the same old stuff that has made so many of us fans. That IMO is the formula, some new, some of the same. A lot of bands who go completely new in their styles tend to regret it. I think Coldplay will mix it up well, especially since they seem to be wanting to take some time off, they will have plenty of time to be creative and new. I have only been listening to Coldplay for about a year and love their music. And I am just now starting to give Radiohead a chance, so that is still up in the air. But I have heard people talk about Radiohead for years. For the Radiohead fans/Coldplay critics, I think you should give Coldplay the benefit of the doubt and wait for a couple more albums to come out before you pigeon hole them as writing the same songs over and over and not having any new stuff.
October 17, 200322 yr Off Topic (sorry)- ^ Your old sig is really good Don't Panic! Even though it's the worst pic of Guy in existence! :D Is it really that bad? I thought it was simple and elegant, but heey ... I'm just a boy. Find me a better one please :)
March 17, 200521 yr Allow Me To Make A Pointless Radiohead Comparison No. I'm not going to say anything along the line's of "Coldplay is a wannabe Radiohead" I know. The two bands are very different but there's a couple of key things I've noticed. a.) Parachutes = Pablo Honey The somewhat meh debut album. Don't get me wrong. I like both of these albums and they're great when compared to other bands. However, when you compare them to the rest of the band's discography they fall flat on their faces. b.) Yellow = Creep These songs both became anthems of modern day rock 'n roll. Also, both of these songs got the bands (for a short time) labeled as one hit wonders. Oh how the critics were proven wrong. c.) A Rush of Blood To The Head = The Bends Both of these albums are drastically more mature sounding than their debut albums. These are also the albums that gave the bands a large following. d.) X&Y = OK Computer? From what I've heard so far Coldplay have started to experiment with electronica on their album (albeit 70's-esque electronica). OK Computer was also Radiohead's first dive into the world of electronica. Beware the coincidences. Also, OK Computer is arguably the greatest Radiohead album. According to Chris this is going to be Coldplay's greatest. Alright. I'm done now. Just felt like sharing.
December 28, 200520 yr Coldplay vs. Radiohead.... Why do some people think that Coldplay and Radiohead are similar?    I don't see ANY similarities. Only the fact that they are both bands originating from the UK... I have met some people (today) that say they are either extremely similar or at least the " sound" the same. I disagree. Any thoughts?
December 28, 200520 yr well pablo honey, the bends, and even ok computer are similar to coldplay imo but kid a, amnesiac, and httt are completely different. i enjoy both bands...but i like and appreciate radiohead alittle more... :D
December 28, 200520 yr ive always thought radiohead was more electronic then coldplay but if i had to choose i would say radiohead because i think thom yorke writes brilliant lyrics.
December 28, 200520 yr i think thom yorke writes brilliant lyrics. You can hear what he is singing? Seriously the guy mumbles too much :D I have all Readiohead albums, love the music but Thom's singing is... wierd :/ Coldplay for the win tbh :smug:
December 28, 200520 yr Some of Thom Yorke's lyrics are brilliant....others don't make sense at all! :P Chris's lyrics might not be as good as some of Thom's, but they are much more consistent
December 28, 200520 yr I don't think they sound similar. They're opposites. Radiohead are the 'dark side', Coldplay the 'bright side'. I prefer the 'dark side' myself, but every once and again I can't help but meddle with the 'bright side' as well... Or something.
December 28, 200520 yr I f*cking HATE Radiohead. Am I the only one?! I've never liked anything ever done by them....!
