A Possibility that would make Paradise more enjoyable

Featured Replies

I don't know if you guys notice that the beginning of Para is wierd. It seems the end of the song before Para(which is hurts like heaven) leads directly and smoothly to Para. I just wonder if this little connection would make Para sounds and feels better than being listened alone.

Just like people said, songs are truly better when being listened along within the whole album. especially for an "album" band like coldplay. you gotta remember how Violet Hill's first verse kicks in so awesomely strong when the last chords of Viva La Vida is still ringng. It could be the same thing for Para. (Violet Hill alone is still a better song though)

This is why I'm telling people to wait for the damn album. So we can see how it stands in the whole body of work.

Paradise really wasn't the best choice when choosing a single...

I think you might be right. Actually, those first 30 seconds of Paradise are what I enjoy most of the song. I know Mew made a whole album (also a concept album) in which all the songs blended into eachother and it sounds great. It also adds to the feeling that the album is one whole.

Yes and also the xylophone-ish sound in Paradise (intro and lalala bit) reminds me of the ringing sound in Mylo Xyloto. I think there's gonna be a lot of references between songs on this album.

Totally agree. I'm sure the album will be amazingly put together and flowing perfectly through the speakers as soon as it arrives as a whole. As in, I've loathed Viva la Vida as long as it was aired mon radios constantly, and the whole album is just overwhelming. Don't underestimate the guys, they always put a thought in what they do, and IMHO, this could just be the most seamless Coldplay album.

Just as a point, Hurts Like Heaven is in B flat Major, and Paradise is in G Minor. Guess what? They're relative. The two songs flow together.

From reading the Billboard article it seems that EMI have mounted a lot of pressure on Coldplay and their management to maximise profits. The ETIAW EP was fine, but to release singles from a concept album just doesn't seem to work well at all for me. I hope in the future if Coldplay ever leave their label they release EPs and LPs only.

Everyone should wait for the damn album!!

I remember in one interview, they said that they are ALWAYS so scared for every ODD numbered album.

The first: Parachutes: Amazing. It had to be.

The second: A Rush of Blood: AMAZING!! Everyone agrees that its FRICKING AMAZING. Its a favorite for majority. The critics loved it.

The third: X&Y: I loved it. A lot didnt. Critics were harsh and Chris got hurt and had a really long break. Critics were mean and more than a handful hated it. (BUT I REALLLY LOVE THIS ALBUM)

The fourth: VIVA LA VIDA or DAAHF: OMG. I LOVED THIS ONE!! A lot new they were going in a new direction. A lot loved it. Critics loved it. HELLO?? 4 GRAMMY'S?? Song of the year!??! AMAZING ALBUM!!!!

The fifth: Mylo Xyloto: ITS NOT EVEN OUT YET AND PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING!!!! Just becasue its too pop-py. Or they've soldout (WHICH I DONT BELIEVE-they are getting more creative). This is all based on the two official singles. But, hello?? Dont they love ETIAW?? or MM or HLH, or UATW?? UIF?? CB?? or POC?? or EVERY NEW SONG THEY REVEALED??

People are making it harder for them. Just chill. They are making their MASTERPEICE album. Its their dream. I believe that MYLO XYLOTO will be their masterpeice. If people dont like it, learn to love it. ITS FRICKING COLDPLAY!

This.

B-flat major scale: B♭, C, D, E♭, F, G, A, B♭

G minor scale: G, A, B♭, C, D, E♭, F, G

The notes are exactly the same, but in a different order. In theory it could sound as if Hurts Like Heaven and Paradise are the same song.

You could say that about any song in the same key. I don't know what mode each song is, so one might use a couple more notes if it was in, say harmonic minor.

I don't like EMI :mean:

I knew there was a reason for posting EMI shake-up updates over the last 12 months, its coming back to bite! I am a fan of the new material, but I am not a fan of the way it has been "put out there". I think Dave Holmes has a fair bit to answer for too.

that's what I've been thinking since reading that article too, I'm really not liking the marketing/promo decisions

A question: don't all keys could be progressively transtioned to each other if the musician is talented enough and allowed enough bars on the sheet?

And The Glass Handed Kites :)

I don't really understand the question, and I can't read or write music, but I write songs, and I'll try my best to answer. You get different modes within keys. Like in G minor, could could play a D Major chord, and it's changed the entire tone of the song you're playing. So if what you're asking is "Could any song be shifted to any key?" the answer is yes. But is every song in every mode: no. Hope that helps :)

appreciate the answer. i am not very adept with muical theories either, but i think my question makes sense, so let's wait someone majored in music to answer, i guess.

ps:i don't think you can shift a song originally in a major key to a minor key, but let's see what others say:)

Oh in that case, obviously, you can shift a song from say, C Major to D Major. But not to D Minor.

Oh, and by the way, guess what key Charlie Brown is in? G Minor.

genius! so energetic as a minor key song! ;)

Not only that, but the first four songs on the album are in relative key. So they probably all flow.
