September 22, 201114 yr When she was just a girl She expected the world But it flew away from her reach so She ran away in her sleep and dreamed of Para-para-paradise, Para-para-paradise, Para-para-paradise Every time she closed her eyes When she was just a girl She expected the world But it flew away from her reach and the bullets catch in her teeth Life goes on, it gets so heavy The wheel breaks the butterfly Every tear a waterfall In the night the stormy night she’ll close her eyes In the night the stormy night away she'd fly and dreams of Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Oh oh oh oh oh oh-oh-oh She’d dream of Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Oh oh oh oh oh oh-oh-oh-oh lalalalalalalalalalala And so lying underneath those stormy skies She’d say, "oh, ohohohoh I know the sun must set to rise" This could be Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise Oh oh oh oh oh oh-oh-oh This could be Para-para-paradise Para-para-paradise This could be Para-para-paradise Oh oh oh oh oh oh-oh-oh-oh
September 23, 201114 yr Im actually very happy they released the lyrics. I've been checking the Recordings section all the time because I wasn't sure if he says "This could be" or "This should be". I saw some blogs even saying "It's gonna be" Many don't like the lyrics but I think they are great. Simple and RELATABLE.

September 23, 201114 yr I'm VERY happy that the lyrics are "...away she'd fly" as opposed to what I THOUGHT it was. ("...away she flied")
September 23, 201114 yr I'm VERY happy that the lyrics are "...away she'd fly" as opposed to what I THOUGHT it was. ("...away she flied") Chris Martin sometimes/often change lyrics when he is singing live ;) But well... I'm really glad to finally have the right lyrics  :flutterby:
September 23, 201114 yr Yeah, in that other show he sang 'away she flies' and in that paper that showed part of the lyrics before, he also didn't write "she'd"

September 29, 201114 yr Paradise is a wonderful song to wake up to in the morning. I absolutely love the line, "I know the sun must set to rise." :)
October 1, 201114 yr lol he screwed up the first verse on letterman. sang 'bullets catch in her teeth' instead of 'she ran away in her sleep'
October 1, 201114 yr Unfortunately, he still says "life goes on; it gets so heavy". :| What's all the fuss about that part? I really love that bit:thinking:
October 3, 201114 yr I have troubles with the first two lines. She expected the world .... what? Did she expect the world to happen? to be great? to be known by her? She expected life to be the world? She got pregnant of the world? She expected the world to be good to her? I don't get it :S
October 3, 201114 yr It's kind of idiomatic....to expect the world is to expect that great things will happen to you.
October 9, 201114 yr It's kind of idiomatic....to expect the world is to expect that great things will happen to you. That lyric is quite funny to me actually, I first heard the song when I came back from a camp where it was some kind of catch phrase/running gag to say "this person/game/song is the world" (but in our Flemish dialect, "de wèreld"), meaning "... is awesome".
November 8, 201114 yr Can someone explain me what is exactly meant by " the bullets catch in her teeth"? I just can't figure out this expression. Also "The wheel breaks the butterfly" is not so clear to me Thks:)
November 9, 201114 yr Wow. Just love these lyrics. Must admit, Paradise wasn't exactly a fav when I first heard it, but it has grown on me SO much as of late, I cannot help but sing to it every time I hear it play. It's now a favorite. One reason I think it's come to mean so much to me is because when I really started listening to the lyrics, I could relate in a very special way, 'cause I can remember being a little kid, and always wanting something more in life, always waiting for something more in life, and it took me many years to realize that everything I'd ever wanted, everything I was "waiting for" was here all along. Some "grand tomorrow" is never gonna come, like I used to think it was. No, that grand tomorrow is never gonna come unless you find the "grandness" of TODAY. Thankfully, I did. I found true happiness. And so many of Coldplay's songs have been the soundtrack of my life, but that is what this song means to me. :) Sorta corny I suppose, but just being honest. :)

Also "The wheel breaks the butterfly" is not so clear to me Thks:) I think 'the wheel breaks the butterfly' is a sort of idiom: Using a wheel to break a butterfly would be like over-doing something or exaggerating about something. Sort of like the phrase 'making a mountain out of a mole-hill' (or I guess like making a teardrop into a waterfall :D) that's how I interpret it anyway. Not sure about the 'bullets catch in her teeth' line though
