Coldplay to play University of East Anglia on 27 October

Good morning. It's just been announced that Coldplay will play a special show in Norwich on Thursday, 27 October, as part of BBC Radio 1's Student Tour. The gig will take place at the city's University of East Anglia venue, and will broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 (listen live on your radio in the UK, or online anywhere in the world).

Tickets, priced £20, will go on sale at 9am on Saturday, 15 October from the Box Office, Union House, University of East Anglia, Norwich NR4 7NJ.

Tickets are available to all members of the general public. They can only be purchased in person and please be aware we expect high demand for these tickets so a queue is expected to form early.

Tickets are limited to two per customer. To avoid these tickets being resold at vastly inflated prices entry for these shows will be via wristband only. On 15 October a ticket voucher will be issued clearly showing your name and address. On the show day 27 October wristbanding will open at midday at the venue.

Ticket holders will need to return with their ticket voucher, photo ID matching the name on the ticket voucher and if they have purchased two tickets their guest must be in attendance with them. Each customer will be wristbanded and can then return to the venue in the evening for the concert. Doors open at 6.30 pm and the show starts promptly at 7.00 p.m. so please arrive early. Please note that any wristbands that have been obviously tampered with will be refused entry.

Nice way to stop ticket touting.

Hope some of you can make it there! :nice:

noooo, don't tell Chelsea!
Ha, that's what I thought as well!

Too late though, Mich already tweeted it to her. :uhoh:

When I saw Norwich I thought of Chelsea too :disappointed:

Well she was gonna see it! :P And I did it in a sympathetic "I feel your pain" kinda way :nice: :(

I know! It is gonna be a little difficult to hide it after all

I contemplated getting someone to queue for tickets til I saw how regimented it is. I'm sure no-one would mind me working in Norwich for a couple of days instead of Stretford!! There are plenty of business reasons for it :D

The in person thing is such a pain! :(

i guess the idea is that the tour is for students, and they want to try and make sure the students get a chance at the tickets. hence selling them in person at the uni

Yeah, which is good. Definitely none going to touts. :)

OHHHMYYGODDD

I only live half an hour from Norwich; I was there yesterday!! Definitely going to this! Can't wait, thanks for letting us know! Eeeep, my first Coldplay concert, and just after the release of MX - so excited!

Ooooooh. I'm in Norwich on Saturday to watch my beloved NCFC vs Swansea, so I could go and queue before being there ready for the match later in the afternoon.

Help me out here Coldplayers. We all know how crazy we are but how early would you say to get in the queue? To guarantee tickets?

I'm thinking the night before should suffice. Just hope it's not too cold! :(

I AM GOING TO THROW MYSELF OUT OF A FUCKING WINDOW.

OF ALL BANDS. OF ALL UNIVERSITIES.

MY UNIVERSITY, THAT I JUST GRADUATED FROM AND MOVED 3,000 MILES AWAY FROM.

BEWARE, EVERYONE THAT KNOWS ME, I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS.

In other news, I'm looking at airfare and debating whether or not to bankrupt myself on flights, because I COULD stay for free any number of places, as long as someone got me a ticket at the uni this Saturday :P

Also, Coldplay played UEA back in January of 2000 and there's still a poster of them hanging in the paper shop on campus...

I'm seriously scheming to go, even though it would be insane. It all hinges on someone camping out at the LCR and guaranteeing that their second ticket goes to me :P. Any takers?!

fi8ngers crossed for you :)

I'm thinking of camping to try and get tickets for this. Probably the whole of East Anglia will want tickets as no big bands come here.

they've not added it yet, and everyone here missed it! They've just added Noel Part 1 so hopefully it won't be long

OK, will still need someone to relay the info because I think they changed the iPlayer rules--you can listen live from the US, but not listen again

I want to see if he mentions them playing there in 2000 :P. I thought about it every time I had to buy something in the shop on campus because the poster is still up with their baby faces on it :wacky:

It's up Ian, click the full show and go to 45 mins :)

Chelsea. "They made us start playing before the doors had opened, I broke a string before anyone was even there so it was out of tune all night. Time to go back and try again...show Norwich how we really are."
