I think the way Colbert works is that you request tickets via the website within a certain time window (usually months in advance) and they assign you a date...but I could be wrong because I've never done it myself. Once I was 18 and old enough to go, I wasn't in the country long enough to attempt getting in, and now I just actually haven't thought about doing it.

I believe they have stand-by available, show up and fill in unclaimed or no-show seats. That's the way it was for Conan when I went for a taping earlier this year. Seems to be similar for many of the shows out here in CA, and from what I read the NY shows as well.

I'm sure, sadly, there will be those who reserved seats months ago, find out it's an hour of Coldplay and ditch... you never know.

Coldplay To Appear On 'The Colbert Report', Play Song From New Album 'Mylo Xyloto' (VIDEO)

Coldplay will appear on "The Colbert Report" this Thursday, Oct. 20, to perform a song from their upcoming album "Mylo Xyloto."

Comedy Central Insider announced that the band will play a song off the new album, marking its TV debut, and then Coldplay will play another song that will be posted exclusively on ColbertNation.com next day. This comes just a month after "Colbert" hosted Radiohead in a very special one-hour episode, "Dr Pepper Presents Stephen Colbert's Rocktember With Radiohead Who Present Themselves Because They Are Nobody's Corporate Tool, Brought To You By Dr Pepper, The Official Soft Drink Of Radiohead."

It only makes sense for Colbert to quickly then feature another British band clearly borne in the wake of Radiohead's influence to be the next, rare musical guest on the show. Although no official statement has been made yet of what song the band will play, it seems likely that they will choose one of their two singles that have already been released, "Paradise" and "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall."

The new album, which is a concept album entitled "Mylo Xyloto" (and not "Zenyatta Mondatta" no matter how badly we want to call it that) will be released next Monday, Oct. 24.

^ 11:30 PM ET/PT (I have no idea about any other timezone, sorry).

Hmm...I would really love to watch this live, but I have school and have to wake up at 6:15 tomorrow morning. Should I watch the rerun tomorrow night or be an insomniac?

Decisions, decisions...:P

TV Guide is wrong a surprisingly frequent amount of times.

No, as in...my TV's guide (I have cable).

I can't watch it today anyway, stupid school.

(although I want to claim insomnia...)

EDIT: Also, on Coldplay's website, it says:

Wednesday, 19 October - The Colbert Report, Comedy Central, 11.30pm ET/PT

Hmmm...they could have just done a last-minute schedule change. I mean, Coldplay WAS in Cupertino today, so they'd have to fly across the whole country after mid-day on a 5-hour flight for the taping of a show that's taped a few hours before it actually airs.
