no itunes store here so it's CD or nothing. I download a lot of stuff and just buy CDs I really like (average CD price = 20 dollars)

If I bought all the music I downloaded I'd be broke.

Basically, if I like an album, I buy it. But I try to buy as much as I can.

I guess im all by myself... lol the only music i listen too is Oasis and Coldplay and i have all the albums of both of them so i guess thats why i dont steal music often :P

I mostly buy physical CDs, and if I only want one song of an album and it isn't available on iTunes, I steal it.

I collect physical albums. :) But when I want to fill my mp3 player or something, I steal. :p

Both. xP

What I don't understand is how it's not okay to download music but it's okay to buy it secondhand, either way no one involved is getting the money. Herp.

Downloading music is like available to everyone! buying second hand is only giving it to one person. i personally hate people who pirate like all there music. i understand if its unreleased but not if its released and you have 573895749875 songs on your ipod, i hate those people....

Since I'm a quality freak and a lot of leaks/digital files aren't in pristine quality, being able to rip it myself from a CD is always worth it for favorite albums and artists. Supporting those artists is nice too, I guess, but they also make a crapload off me in concert ticket/merch money anyway. But if I don't like an album much, I'm sure as hell not gonna pay for it. I know I'm on a Coldplay forum and discussing stealing from said band is highly frowned upon, but I'll just admit right here I'm not paying for Mylo Xyloto. (DISCLAIMER: I already deleted it from my iTunes so I don't actually possess the stolen material in question. :P)

A bit of both, mainly purchase new stuff and steal rare out of print old stuff (the artists don't get anything when you buy 2nd hand)

You could do with a little more illegality in your life if all you listen to is Oasis and Coldplay.

i still buy only cd's, i like having to make the effort of going into town and then searching for the album I want and then adding it to my collection. I do download certain albums when they leak (like MX) but when it's released I'll still go out and buy it

And those people (me) hate you back :nice:

I try and buy music whenever I can as long as I like it, but it's difficult. I'm a 17 year old without a job, and I'm not the kind of person who listens to only a handful of bands. So I don't have any other options. Anyways, most musicians want you just to hear their music more than anything else; profits are a far-off second the majority of the time, from what I've heard so many of them say.

I've never bought a single thing off of iTunes, simply because I can't be bothered to spend money on mp3s I could get online for free. I do however buy CDs and vinyl as often as I possibly can. I have a fairly decent collection and I'm always trying to increase it. I also spend ridiculous amounts of money on concerts at times (for example I spent $120 to see The Strokes a few months ago). Every band knows that's where the real money is these days, not in album sales.

But like I said, it's difficult. I don't feel bad; I do what I can.

if more money actually went to the artist from iTunes sales I would probably buy more music. Almost all of the money goes to itunes, record labels, distribution etc, which is pretty stupid. I want to give my money to the people who, you know... made the music??

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with downloading music. it ultimately gives them more publicity/attention in the long run.

I'll buy vinyl if it's available because i love vinyl. But I can't afford much, seeing as my only source of money is $10 a week from my parents...

I approve of this post.

But anyways, I mostly just buy albums by artists I'm obsessed with, and I get them off of Ebay/secondhand. :|

I do support a few independent artists and buy albums through them though.

oh god i'm gonna burst into sonAND ODDS ARE THAT YOU PROBABLY, MAGICALLY GOT THIS SONG FOR FREE, I'M NOT SURE IF IT BOTHERS ME IT SEEMS FINE, CAUSE I'M HAVING A GOOD TIME

you can't be for real

Both, but mostly buy.

I usually buy albums in total, but if I only hear one song I like and want off an album, depending on how much money I have in my account, I'll either buy it on Amazon for $.99 or search for a torrent.

I do "steal" allot of music, but I need to be able to afford food, college expenses along with various other things that crop up, and there's absolutely no way I could afford all of that as well as paying for all the albums that I listen too, but if it's a small band or a record I particularly like, I'll usually buy a physical copy.
