Greatful for this ERA

Featured Replies

without this era there wont be epic songs LIKE HLH and CB.... theyre one of my fave coldplay songs if not one of the best or the best songs of coldplay

plus the whole album is a different light for coldplay it does really tell a great story from one song to the next.

All the songs like Paradise, DLIBYH, UWTB, MM, POC , UIF and the rest are a great collection of new coldplay songs... which i love personally theyve expounded for more sounds esp. collaborating with Rihanna

theyre taking risks somehow..

im just so greatful for this era.. how bout u guys?

meh... I honestly am not feeling this era at all. The album is too chaotic and undefined for me. I can't but not compare to the previous album and era, it was amazing and historical for the band as well.Viva La Vida is a masterpiece of an album for me. Mylo Xyloto is...tepid. Didn't mean to burst your bubble btw. To me there are some good songs here, but too much hype, previous performances and releases of the songs, and the production I really don't like just ruined it for me.

*Grateful

I'm with you, i don't get all the hate that this era is getting. I love the album and absolutely, definitely adore MX/Hurts Llike Heaven and Charlie Brown, they are both great on the record and they sound massive live so my mouth is watering for the next Coldplay concerts in Mexico. Apart from those two songs, which are already Coldplay classics in my book, i think the album is nearly perfect, it mixes balls-out rockers like DLIBYH with sweet ballads like UATW and i think it's a perfect blend of songs which, in my humble opinion, Viva La Vida didn't achieve.

I agree, I think its their best. Hope for even more amazing b sides!

I kinda am gratful, because it made me appreciate the VLV era even more

*Grateful

Yeah, as an English major, this was going to drive me nuts too!

^ As a human with a synaptic response, it drove me nuts.

LOVE THIS ERA

The band has shown confidence and freedom about their art. They no longer give it shit about what kind of music they should play, how their songs should sound like. They just do whatever the hell they please and don't give a damn.

And seriously, this album is BONKERS!!! And if you don't like it, it's YOUR loss.

Totally agree with you!

I think there is a lot of envy in the world...

I like this era....but Viva was better, everything about it, the album, the EP, the clothes, the concerts (tough maybe they can bring something new for the Arena and Stadium tours...).

Maybe when I hear it live.

I liked the X&Y era not because I liked the album that much, but just for the toronto show I watched on TV. I love it.

I hope their shows will be more about the music and a bit less about the "entertain everybody!" stuff..

I love this thread and everyone in it! Honestly this album is fantastic and I don't understand all the people giving it low ratings. Every song is a gem.

I really love MX Era :dazzled:... in my opinion, is better than VLV era.

I also LOVE this era :D i loved the Viva La Vida era cause i got to see them twice in Mexico City and they were the best concerts i've ever been to but i felt the whole era was sort of depressing, or maybe not depressive but grim, with the exception of Strawberry Swing (the song and the video) and Lovers In Japan (the butterflies are definitely in my top 3 gig moments ever) but everything else just felt dark, also Viva La Vida (the song) was brutally overplayed and i ended up getting sick of it... this era, on the contrary, is so upbeat, they seem and sound so happy and it just rubs off on me, i'm loving it

this

I don't care what anyone else says....

THIS ERA ROCKS!!

I agree with all the PROS

this era is awesome but i think the viva era was a bit better it was more hipster

Pretty much this. The album as individual tunes and such sounds fine but lump them all together and it does absolutely nothing. Viva was their masterpiece but Mylo isn't that better follow up.

I loved the Viva era, but it had to end some time. I'm just glad they kept with the theatrics and didn't go back to monochrome colours, normal instruments etc. They're pretty much unique at the moment, in that they stand out from just about every other band in the world.

I like this era but I wished they continued with the VLV era for another album. I thought that era could have lasted for another album before moving away from it.

It was what surprises me the most about MX. I thought for sure they had enough VLV in them for this album but they went and changed it completely. Not that I hate this era or anything but to me the VLV era ended too soon.
