I've had several MacBooks. The first one I bought was the best decision of my life.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro. It is my favorite piece of technology, to be honest.

i've used macbooks but i still cant understand why you'd pay so much when there are windows laptops for half the price, that have even better specs.

For me alot of music software is Mac only, plus I'm just incredibly used to OS X and prefer it now.

I find Macs easier and better to use. My MacBook hasn't crashed once in two years and I use it every day. It's definitely worth the money.

Having said that you can get decent Windows laptops but you definitely can't get them for £400.

I have a white Macbook and it's been great for me! I've had it for nearly 3 years now. No problems whatsoever. :) They're expensive, but worth the money. It comes with all the great iLife programs on it like Garageband, iPhoto, etc. Also, with Lion you can wirelessly sync your apple devices with your computer. Also it uses iCloud to push anything you've added or changed on one device to the others. And as someone else pointed out, they never crash. I need reliability in my computer. So this is important to me.

As much as I love Macs, a Windows PC is probably the better choice if you're into computer games because a lot of games don't have a Mac version.

I would go for a PC, in your case. PC gaming >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mac gaming.

I dont really want a PC, i mean im not a harcore gamer at all, most ill play is probably football manager!

I was maybe thinking of the macbook because of the reliabilty and because i might want to go into producing music in the future

And PCs are easier to upgrade when newer games come out needing more stuff to make them work.

I got no room in my bedroom for a pc to be honest, so a laptop is the only option really

The 2 most used softwares in music production are, I'm not a pro but I think I'm correct here, Pro Tools and Logic. You can use Pro Tools on both Mac and PC but Logic only works on Mac.

And Football Manager is available on Mac! :D But indeed, for "real" gaming, a Mac isn't really an option.

that's true, but in my opinion Logic is a waste of time/money ;)

Yeah? Well I used Pro Tools but I don't know anything about Logic so I'll trust you. But just by curiosity, what makes you say that?

I think I would actually like Logic if I had to do music! It's the same battle in movie editing, you have Avid, by the same guys who made Pro Tools, versus Final Cut, by Apple too ; and I prefer Final Cut by far.

I read here that Coldplay uses Logic a lot actually, their producer Markus Dravs gave an interview about it.

Pro Tools is great. I haven't used Logic much, but my problem with it is that you don't have much flexibility. I'm used Ableton, which is incredible. You can pretty much do anything you want. It's great.

I'm no professional though...just some kid making beats in his bedroom. I think it all comes down to opinion. All programs offer different things.

I absolutely love my MacBook Pro. I took me a long time to finally have the courage to buy one (only because of the prize) but now I think it's one of the best decisions I made this year. It never crashes, you never have to turn it off and the battery time is impressive (compared to my old Windows laptop). Also I use Final Cut Pro a lot, and even on my 13'' MacBook it works fine.

The dilemma for me is i can get a much better spec windows laptop for alot cheaper

but if macbook's really are that reliable, nothing worse than a laptop/pc crashing!

You can have a dual boot with OS X and Windows so you could have Windows on your Mac just for games/Windows only software.

On another point OS X Lion isn't really nice, I'm sticking with Snow Leopard.

I've heard good things about Ableton but I've not tried it because I'm so used to Logic, I've played around with Pro Tools on someone elses computer but I havn't ever had my own copy and I'm more used to Logic.

I love Lion - full screen apps, multi-touch gestures, mission control, launchpad, nothing essential but it's really nice.

I love Lion! I downloaded minutes after it was released.

That was a bad idea.
