You quite fail in human language.

Yeah, and mommy's boy from your avi too :nice:

You're being like a crazy fan girl who doesn't accept that people can actually dislike songs from their favorite bands.

Just suck it up, not everyone likes it.

Go ahead and dislike a masterpiece.

  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

Yeah cuz she is asking for your permission to hate a song

Well if you ask me...

Yeah I am sure we all are gonna ask you next time Muse releases a song if we have YOUR permission to like it or not.

I have to say, the whole treasure hunt thing really was great. it's the most creative thing i've seen in music for a while, very fun stuff. BUT I don't like the song, at all. i enjoy Matt + piano, but the rest of this song.. really does not do it for me. HOWEVER, the best part, and it is excellent if you pay attention: Dom Howard's drumming. he is actually a drumming GOD. (and cute as hell.)

Yeah, the treasure hunting was great! And i agree, Dom's part is fantastic but Chris's bass is just as good and i love the piano part. I don't think it's bad soong, maybe uber cheesy lyrics and the EUROASIA-SIA-SIA made me laugh but who knows, it might grow on me with time. I remember i used to hate supermassive black hole cos it didn't sound like muse at all and then it grew on me and i loved it live. This song will probably rock live and i'm still looking forward to listen the whole album, especially exogenesis!

Its not about my permission. Youre completely off topic all the time, maybe it was released for non-weird people like me.

Yeah I am off topic and also a weird person...

Im glad youve sorted yourself :nice:

:laugh3:

Plug_in_coldplaying and Mark should meet up...

Well.

After reading all that has gone down since I last posted in this thread, I'm going to go ahead and go on a li'l schpiel here. Laugh and mock if you want; I'm just here to give my opinion, as you all have done.

The only parts where I detect even a hint of Queen influence is in the "there can be only one" parts when the guitar goes a bit crazy and when some vocal harmonies appear. I don't see how those bits that don't even last five seconds automatically makes this song a Queen rip-off.

Really, if you wanna talk about similarities, let's instead talk about the middle parts that have the Mid-Eastern feel. Matt had stated that the song would have some Lawrence of Arabia influences in there. Now THAT I do hear a bit more of. On that respect, however, that's still only in the instrumental parts where Matt's not singing and the piano and strings play off one another.

Anyway I, like Plug_in_coldplaying, actually love this song to pieces, and I'll tell you why:

1. The beginning with the piano is pretty. Simple, yet pretty. Matt's vocals actually show off the lower end of his register, which I rather like hearing, considering in more recent years we hear much more of his falsetto side. Not to say that I don't like his falsetto, but it's nice to hear this for a change.

2. I like the use of strings. Adding such a symphonic feel to rock music makes me happy. That's really a reason of why I really like Muse in the first place; they're known for having classical influences in at least some of their music.

3. Dom's drumming IS really good. :D

4. I had mentioned Matt's vocals in the beginning specifically, but really, all the way through I find them to be pleasing. His voice is nice and bold, and you can actually hear what he's saying without having to look for lyrics. This song is a example of how his vocal work has progressed over time. Take these vocals and compare them with something from, say, "Showbiz," and you'll see what I mean.

5. Speaking of lyrics, I know at least one person said that they were cheesy. I personally disagree. Given the fact that this song is heavily influenced by George Orwell's 1984, I think it's a really nice musical interpretation. I particularly like the first part of the second verse:

"You and me fall in line

To be punished for unproven crimes

And we know that there's no one we can trust.

Our ancient heroes, they are turning to dust."

This here is particularly remniscient of the book. Go read it, and maybe you'll understand the lyrics a bit better. If not, then you'll at least have read a good book about a dystopian future.

6. I admit, the whole "EURASIA! SIA! SIA!" bit is kid of weird, but I like even that. I think it's because it's different from what Muse has done before. Also, I had mentioned vocal harmonies earlier; I think they're even better here than in the other spot I mentioned.

Anyway, I can't find much that I don't like about the song. Thin kwhat you will. Laugh, point, call me a moron, I don't care. Just giving my opinion. (Even if it is a bit lenghthy; for that, I apologize.)

I agree that the lyrics and vocals are extremely cheesy. I thought exactly this when I heard the song.

But it's sooo obvious! D:

And that's a bad thing?

But seriously. How are you supposed to make those references cryptic?

wow guys, you should be happy that we have a new Muse song instead of being fighting lol

That's the thing, though. People AREN'T happy about it, because some people don't like it. :\

i started off liking this song but the more i listen to this song the sillier it sounds. but i wont go as far as to say its a bad song. i've never paid much attention to matt's lyrics and his vocal work has always been hit and miss. i hope there are some great guitar rock songs on this album.

^I doubt it, they wont be rocking with riffs for what i read, they're gonna be more experimental but who knows. I still love them though.

But I thought being experimental was what BHAR was for...?

beware, golden opt girl is coming into this thread sooon...............

But I thought being experimental was what BHAR was for...?

I thought so too but they're going beyond this time, that's why i'm all excited about it .

beware, golden opt girl is coming into this thread sooon...............

Yay!:D

^ And that's bad?

Sorry, I don't know who that is...

I thought so too but they're going beyond this time, that's why i'm all excited about it .

OOOOOH, JOY. :cheesy:

That's her and she'll be here soon cos i'm converting her to muse haha.
