The 2nd Law VS Mylo Xyloto

Featured Replies

Supremacy vs MX/Hurts Like Heaven

Coldplay hits the ground running with their fast paced smash Hurts Like Heaven that really sets the tone for the rest of the album.

Madness vs Paradise

Both songs are similar in style and this was a hard decision but Madness won out mainly for the last minute of the song.

Panic Station vs Charlie Brown

This was BY FAR one of my favorite Coldplay songs as soon as I heard it. Nothing againts PS but CB is a CLASSIC!

Survival vs Us Against The World

This one is fairly easy. Survival is one of the worst Muse songs ever.

Follow Me vs MMIX/ETIAW

This one is too hard to choose. I need to listen to Follow Me more and have always liked ETIAW.

Animals vs Major Minus

I cant shake some of great lyrics in Major Minus and the references to Peter Pan. I love it!

Explorers vs POC

My favorite Muse song is years takes the cake here

Big Freeze vs UFO

Tough Call here but UFO beats out the U2esque Big Freeze

Save Me vs Up In Flames

One of the most simplistic songs Coldplay has ever made was a great addition to the album.

Liquid State vs AHT/DLIBYH

DLIBYH really sets the tone for one of the best Coldplay closers and songs for that matter of all time.

U/IS vs Up With The Birds

Nothing tops the best song off both albums combined. UWTB is a top 10 Coldplay song of all time.

Coldplay WINS but give your thoughts

I made pretty much the same post in the Muse thread. You owe me a "Thanks" here, suuurely.

But since you've done this thread, at least add a poll of 'MX or T2L'.

Haha directly after I made this I saw your response on the MUSE thread.

It's cool.

Also, I don't think Madness and Paradise are of similar style at all.

I meant in the Para Para - Ma Ma Ma Ma format.

That's not what a style is. It's just a pointless lyric.

  • Author

that's just my opinion. it has some decent moments but most would admit it's one of their worst.

I really like Hurts Like Heaven.

I like Paradise. Controversial, but still.

Princess of China's an alright song, and I actually like Survival.

I know right?

I just think it's nice, I don't listen to the lyrics, really.

But then, I think that Lana Del Rey's attractive.

So's Eva Longoria.

Somewhere I have Cheryl Cole's debut album.

I don't like the Strokes.

My dad doesn't like Arctic Monkeys.

He hates Alex's voice.

And my mum hates Muse.

Her favourite Radiohead album is The King of Limbs.

She's a cat person.

These are facts about people's opinions, but they don't need a thread of their own.

this one made me laugh

I don't understand the point of making comparisons to tracks that just happen to be in the same order of an album. The songs can't help what order they're in, and song order in itself is an issue that can be considered when talking about which album is better.

you know what I like?

judging each album individually instead of comparing it to other albums

especially when I consider the two albums being compared to be in different genres

Thread maker, are you trolling the music section??

^I believe so.

When I said I was going to compare the two; I didn't mean track vs track comparisons. Because that makes no sense?

People compare albums everyday. Why should this be any different?

BTW good to know making 2 threads makes me a troll? Meh.

Survival definitely is not the worst Muse, not even close to the worst.

Yeah. Yeah it is.

The reasonable folks of WoM already pointed out the silliness of this topic for me, but just so I can get a classic MX dig in here as always, The 2nd Law wins by default for actually having more than one good song.

It's not the making of 2 threads that would make you a troll. But I don't even dare to try to explain to you that what is, because of the way you responded to mrkjhnwht's effort. It will be in vain anyway. Sorry man.

Which song on MX would you honor with calling it 'good', Michael?

Edit: I hope you don't mind me calling you by your name.

Us Against the World

(not a problem haha)

Well if this is still the topic, I totally prefer Mylo over T2L.

Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven are nice too.

Less annoyed by the thread and more annoyed by the fact that these albums are gonna get so much attention and praise just for being albums made by people who stopped making great music 5-10 years ago.

Yeah, but you're doing it in such a way that doesn't equate to it being album vs. album, so much as song vs. song. "I like Album A more than Album B because, based on the songs being in a specific order, I like more of the songs on Album A." That's not conclusive in any sense of the word. You can't get that MX is better because you think "Up with the Birds" is better than "T2L: Unsustainable/Isolated System." IT MAKES NO SENSE.

You wanna compare albums? Talk about cohesiveness or overall sound or technique or something that can be involved in an intelligent discussion. Basing your opinions solely on what you've said is ridiculous.

The CD in my mum's car VS Mylo Xyloto

MX/Hurts Like Heaven Vs MX Hurts Like Heaven

Both songs are the same, but I'm going to give it to MX because theirs is more original.

I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor (Live from the Opening Ceremony) Vs Paradise

Got to be Dancefloor, because Paradise repeats the "para" and that makes a song bad.

Do Me A Favour Vs Charlie Brown

Another Arctic Monkeys song, and we like that one better, so it's a better song, cause opinion and that.

Princess of China (Acoustic) Vs Us Against the World

Noisy synths are bad. Proper songs are done on guitars. Kudos to Chris for realising this before it was too late.

Half the World Away Vs Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

Synths aren't proper instruments.

Death and All His Friends Vs UFO

Of course, this is a totally fair contest, because both tracks are similar. Why? Because they're both Track 9.

One Day Like This (Live from the Closing Ceremony) Vs Princess of China

One Day Like This we hear on tele a lot, and popular songs are always good.

Although, MX has three more tracks, which make it a better album.

Wow, that was close.

But so far, I think the CD in my mum's car has come closest to dethroning Mylo Xyloto as the greatest album ever recorded. Bring it on, Beatles!
