I can't hear what you think :\

The (back-ground) melody is not the same; the tones seems different to me

That part sounds nothing like Fix You. To be honest, the only song which sounds slightly similar to this is Till Kindgom Come I think

Ooooh wait so you think that that melody we can hear in the background between 2:24-2:55 sounds the same than the part with Jonny's solo during Fix you :surprised:

Not much, imo.

I can hear the resemblance, but a rip-off? Ehhh. Does it count when it's one of the most simple riffs ever written?

I didn't think so til Marcus Mumford started swinging a single light bulb around on stage.

i'm jealous

you must be indeed Jonny's personal fluffer :cheesy:

i've also seen them as many times as mentioned in my sig

Sounds nothing like it, and even if it did? So what? A short melody which would be purely coincidental and it happens all the time.

it's the piano! ...I think it is very similar...especially between 2:49-2:53! seriously guys, come one!

I hear it, but just because things sound similar doesn't mean that Mumford and Sons are trying to rip of Coldplay. Who cares if they sound the same? That doesn't mean that the bands should get into some big legal battle. It's no big deal.

Hm no.

This. Coldplay are no drama queens anyway.

I mean the progression is similar but it's not flat-out plagiarism. Coldplay samples and borrows things from people and other arts do the same thing as well. You can't just patent a chord progression or a note sequence. Besides, it's only for a portion of the song. It's not like they copied Fix You entirely and just added new lyrics.

A good example is Queen's Under Pressure. Queen wrote and published the song before Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby. He plagiarized Under Pressure because the whole song is the bass and piano progression of Under Pressure, right down to the tempo and timing. He didn't even give credit to Queen until after it became a hit success on the charts.

Chris must have missed it when he was at a Mumford & Sons concert recently:shocked2:

This doesn't sound a damn thing like Fix You.

CASE CLOSED!

Hi Marcus,

No, I do not think it's true - in fact - I know it isn't.

Please don't be offended and I'm so sorry to be brutally honest.

For what it's worth although I know why you hear a similarity, it is not actually musically the same.

Wasn't the case already closed? :laugh3:

 So...you wouldn't listen to like 20 diehard fans, but rather listen to Debs Wild, who's fantastic btw :uhoh:, even though she said the samething.
