PROM

Featured Replies

So I have my high school prom (big dance/ball at the end of high school) coming next month and I just purchased my dress.

What was your experience of prom if you went?

If not, how come?

Those who have yet to have their prom, are you excited?

All I remember from my 'prom' was that I ended up very drunk with a friend falling off the back of my bike, where he was seated because his bike was stolen.

It wasn't like the most proms that you see in the movies, it was in a club in the city Utrecht, and everybody came with friends, and not with a prom date.

It was a good night.

There was a band that played a load of songs including Umbrella by Rihanna, some song by Blink 182 and Dakota by Stereophonics (twice for some reason). There was a group of people on the dance floor who eventually managed to persuade me to go and dance with them, which didn't go too well :laugh3:

I didn't have a prom date (neither did most of my friends) so we just hung around on a cold balcony for about 3 hours while all the cool kids made out with attractive girls (that may be an exaggeration.) I did ask this one girl to go to the prom with me, after working up the courage all year, but she said she already had a date. I don't think I even saw her with a date at the prom.

I spent most of the time feeling quite bad because my friends spent the whole time trying to get me to ask out this other girl (who I actually really liked) but she was way out of my league and I was too scared to ask her out in front of everyone. So that sucked.

It was alright. Went there, had a drink, pictures were taken, conversations were had. Went there with a girlfriend who a week later dumped me for a thirty year old. Weird part of my life. She's a musician now.

I prefer them understated. Can't be bothered with all the ridiculousness of the big events.

I had a serious boyfriend at the time, so we went with some of my other friends who had serious boyfriends. I think it's probably one of those experiences in life that you'll look back on and not think too much about it. If you go with friends and not put too much stock in it, you'll most likely have a great time!!

We don't have prom, but we have a debs (debutante ball.... classy as fuck) and we only get one of them, after we get the results of our final exams. Not going to lie, I loved ours. I went by myself (cause I'm cool and a trend setter and totally not shy and lame). And although there were people in couples, we went mainly as a group of friends :nice: The meal was grand, the band was fun, DJ played good dancey pop music, and we stayed up talking at my friends house til I went home at 9am.

Also because I went, my mom was making the joke that I don't need to bring a man, I can just steal someone else's ... yeah, one of my best friends took my now boyfriend.

I don't really remember a lot of it but the music was fucking abysmal.

Does she mind?

Sounds like every night out close to me.

I woke up in a garden shed after my debs. My date did not.

You killed her?

Does she mind?

First off, nothing happen between the two of them. A big group of his friends were going, so for him it was a ticket to be honest. And we got together like 2 months after, twas grand. She seemed slightly odd around me for a while when he and I started dating, like sometimes brushing off when I talked about him (so I felt like I could never talk to her about him) but nothing major at all really.

I didn't go to prom because I hated everyone at school (except 4 people who didn't go to the prom either). So I went home. I can't even remember what I did that day, probably watching a movie or something, lol

Don't have prom...as I'm homeschooled...:P I could care less about that, though. :bliss:

I'm having mine this year too, and for some reasons I'm not as excited as my friends all are. I feel super weird about it but that's just my feeling... Maybe it's gonna be cooler than I expected...

By the way, I have my dress :) haven't found the shoes yet neither a bag, I know I only have a month left, but I can find a way I guess ;)

No prom in France. Well, I guess some high schools do organize those, but that must be like 1% of all high schools in France, and not regularly.

Molly, what are you gonna wear for your prom ? How does that dress look ? Are you excited ?

I didn't go to my year 11 prom because I disliked so many people and I really didn't feel like trying to look pretty instead I sat listening to music and crying so a typical friday night really.

I'm going to my sixth form one this year because there are some people I will miss and I am kinda forcing myself to socialise but if people try and make me dance I don't know what I'll do I can't even do the macarena right.

I've only ever been to sorority/fraternity proms, you can't really compare those proms to school proms.

That's my dress, all of my friends have big poofy princess dresses with sparkles but this is more me. I don't know what shoes to wear because I walk like a duck in heels but I want some black velvet looking heels, so ill have to learn to walk in them. My hair is black and long and I'm gonna have it down, straight. Ill have some silver accessories, a little charm bracelet and earrings, maybe a necklace? What do you think? :)

My group of my friends have hired a stretch limo disco hummer thing, which has COST OVER £700, but we've payed £20 each (14/15 of us) and my friends mum is paying the rest, because she's nice..... And quite well off.

I'm not a 'party person' and I've been dreading prom but the venue is nice and I suppose it will be my last goodbye for some people so ill make the most of it.

I already know the music will be shit.

Plus there is an after party at this guys house (he's rich and has a giant house) in which all of year 11 are invited (about 300 people), everyone is gonna get wasted and/or high, then there's me who doesn't drink or get high. I think I'll have a few drinks but I won't be getting out of my face. Everyone is sleeping there I think? It's not very well thought out, I think people will be camping in his yard, fun right :|.

I don't have a date, I'm going with my friends :).

Lovely dress. That color goes well with both gold and silver, so whichever you prefer really. I have mainly silver myself but for that I'd be tempted for gold stuffs.

I didn't go to my proms. The first one I didn't like most of the people who were going so I just had a sleepover with my other friends that weren't going. The second one I didn't go because I had just switched schools and knew nobody...

Due to some idiots in my year-group, plus a lot of idiots in the year above us, the "end-of-school" prom was cancelled for us, a good 10 years ago.

Pesky troublemaking idiots, causing trouble for everybody.
