LdySpace
Tell me about it. The song can't get out of my friggin' head! It's that good kind of "get that song out of my head" feeling, though. "Carry your world....I'll carry your woooorrlllddd..." all day long in my head. My son, "Are you singing that again?" Yeah, so?

Tash
September 9, 2013 - submitted by Salete, Brazil Q. Dear Oracle: The new song Atlas (beautiful and perfect) is based on Greek mythology? Coldplay is using Greek mythology as inspiration for the next album? PS: I love this idea. The Oracle replies: Atlas is a standalone track written for The Hunger Games' 2nd cinematic installment soundtrack and its lyrics relate to that. Without giving too much away, the title Atlas relates to the weight of the world the main character carries - that's the only Greek mythology link. The song was inspired by the book/film and written specifically for Catching Fire. Being a one off, it's not an indication of album 6 - not that I'd discuss that yet of course... Mackplay
The song Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars made for the first movie (great song by the way) was only a big success here. Coldplay is allowing the movie to reach a bigger audience. Very smart marketing!! 37 countries and counting... :dazzled:
Mackplay
ATLAS will be sent to Alternative radios tomorrow. Fingers crossed that they'll love it. If the song is a hit in Alternative radios, it's very likely that they'll start playing it in Pop radios for a bigger audience (and that will generate more sales) Here is the article from Hits Daily Double: "What Promo Peeps Will Be Going for This Week September 8, 2013 It's time once again to check out the songs hitting three key Mediabase radio formats. TOP 40 Emeli Sande, “My Kind of Love” (Capitol) Daft Punk, “Lose Yourself to Dance”(Columbia) ALTERNATIVE Coldplay, "Atlas" (Republic) RHYTHMIC B5,“Say Yes” (Def Jam/IDJ) Krewella, Live For The Night” (Columbia) Ariana Grande f/Big Sean, "Right There” (Republic) Coldplay's new one appears on the hotly anticipated Hunger Games: Catching Fire ST. In other Alternative news, Arcade Fire's "Reflektor" (Merge) will debut this evening. And speaking of Ariana Grande, the songstress is poised for a big debut on this week's Building Album Sales Chart. NMFWTTG__
It was written for the Catching Fire soundtrack (Catching Fire is a film) so it probably won't be on LP6. Read the first post of this thread, most of what you need to know is mentioned there. Ah ok, thanks Tash.

Coeurli
It's quite impressive that with so little promotion before the release, Atlas managed to be #1 on iTunes in over 30 countries. I think it's quite an indication of how huge Coldplay actually are. Surely the track got Hunger Games fans interested too, of course, but still. Quite impressive.
