OK I thought I should post a small review of this song.

 

Chris Martin has and will write better vocal melodies and perhaps the melody could have been fleshed out a bit but that's my only criticism. Musically it's wonderful though. Beautiful piano performance and then that burst of dream like quality from around 3.09 onwards with Jonny's guitar and the tack piano is irresistible. It's clear even on first listening that production wise it is one of their slickest and most accomplished songs. It has a sense of mystery, ambition and a hint of darkness to it which Coldplay do so so well and which was sorely lacking in Mylo Xyloto.

 

edit: btw - Chris Martin singing in a lower register/tone is always great to hear. Much more beautiful than his falsetto.

I haven't had the chance to post (been busy with other things) but I have been following since day one, and have been reading everyone's comments. Thought I would take a chance during my free time to say how much I love this song. I listened to the leak the night before release and I loved it instantly. At first it seems like a slow song, but I love how it is soft and slow in the beginning and then it "explodes" :wink3: in the end. It's the perfect sound for the movie. Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts, once again Coldplay have done it!! :D

Yeah I think Low takes it for the highest note, you can hear it at exactly 5:00 in the song. Chris also does it live at 5:47 here:

Yes; after doing some research, 'Low' is definitely his highest note:

However, his lowest note(s) seems to be on 'Christmas Lights' where he goes down to an E2 (Poison in my blood).

 

 

Anyway, 'Atlas' was knocked outside of the top ten by a Miley Cyrus song, 'Wrecking Ball'. I do not know how to respond to that.
