I will be attending the show at the Beacon. Buying Amtrak and hotel right now.

Maybe you should wait till you have bought your tix. Don't know the venue but i guess it's a small one and unfortunately probabley not everyone will get tix for the show.

God, How I love these heart attack just as i wake up Coldplay moments! The Beacon Theatre is one of the most beautiful theartres in NYC I have seen many bands perform there and it is so intimate every seat is a good seat. I Just saw a great documentary on it and it is beloved by many artists and bands. I just pray I can get a ticket!

Maybe the casual fan won't, but this usually isn't an issue if you know what you're doing.

Well, it'll probably come down to luck. If there are only 2000 tickets and 5000 people are trying to get them at the same time, some of them will come up empty. I hope you get tickets but just saying, booking a hole trip in advance might be a bit risky.

When I worked a Jack Johnson show on his last tour, he did a lottery via his email list (including a show at the Beacon IIRC), and you had to get lucky and draw a code which then could be used to purchase on Ticketmaster. That was pretty hard because there was no general onsale, it was all lottery codes. BUT, they ended up having a bunch of releases on the day of the show because a lot of artist, venue, and charity comps were returned. We actually couldn't even sell all the releases to walkups, even though the show was "sold out" for so long, and demand was very high. Because nobody knew and had made other plans instead.

I see what you're saying, but it's not as hard as you think. And then, there's always StubHub.

Well, for the cologne show the tix have your name on it and you need an ID to get in. To prevent people from selling their tickets for a bunch of money. At least thats what i've read somewhere.

I just hope i get some on sat. and there are no problems at all.

That's how it should be done. Or what they call Credit Card Entry or Paperless tickets in the US/Canada. Good luck!

Oh man I am definitely going to go to this one. The last time they came to nj my friend and I bought tickets but unfortunately she had to cancel last minute because something came up. So basically the money she used to buy the tickets went to waste. I'm wondering if I should ask her to go see them again or do you think she will be a little resentful from what happened before. What do you guys think?

Not to be bitter, but I hope they play more than 10-15 songs like they did at SXSW and LA... With the amount of material they have, I kind of wish they'd play longer sets. Granted, this is no comparison, but I just went to a Springsteen concert last weekend and watched The Boss play for 3+ hours. The man is 64 years old and has a band of 20 musicians.

My guess is there will be a 'Private Offer' link for a private onsale on ticketmaster that you can only get to with the link. Or, they will do a code lottery to mailing list subscribers. They can't do Will Call Only or Paperless, because those methods of delivery are illegal in New York.

If there are Ticketmaster links up, it could be individualized presale passwords but that would be a lot of work so not sure. I have seen some Will Call only shows in NYC recently, no Paperless tickets for a few years now. Everything is a guess right now.

Jack Johnson did it. That was a nightmare!! And you can still see a link up but get a private offer link that allows you to select tickets, whereas everyone else would just see that blank ticketmaster link.

Okay,am I totally confused??! Other than the German show, tickets are not being sold through Ticketmaster or the like but are only being released to people signed up for e-mail alerts through the official Coldplay website, right?? Hope they'll let us know when the e-mails have been set so I can stop obsessively checking my e-mail for an invite to the NYC show. :)

Omg I know. DC has plenty of perfect intimate venues for them!

I agree about D.C being a great place for a small show. Lincoln Theater jumped to my mind straight away. Saw Laura Marling there not too long ago. Beautiful place and as far as I could tell there's not a bad seat in the house. Black Cat is probably a bit too small. Another option could be 9:30 Club but they rarely do seated shows and my guess is most of the upcoming shows will have seating.
