No he didn't. The story is: Lou Reed was in a bad mood that day and refused to play the festival crowd this song. Coldplay did a cover, and Lou Reed later heard about it and was angry that they covered it.

This intro to Clocks is so epic, best ever !

But their first 4 albums are true Coldplay.

 

But I mean, they were a rock band, now they are a pop band. Not saying their new music stinks, they just aren't the same.
