Do it ! One of the things I regret is having witnessed the 1999 total solar eclipse but having no photo of it (or with it) :D

Well, there are at least two disadvantages for me to be taking photos. First, this is probably going to be the most photographed solar eclipse in history, given that the eclipse will be seen from coast to coast of such a large and technologically developed country as the U.S. Which means there will be plenty of photos to see, with the digital connectivity between people driving them to plaster their pictures all over Instagram, Facebook, etc. Second, there is a lot more things that occur during a total solar eclipse than the blocking of the sun, which you can see in this video if you have the time. And I don't want to miss any of it! Ideally I would want to plan out what I will be doing every second around the time of totality.

Do you have a rebuttal for these reasons? :D

Speaking of the eclipse, i heard that they are expecting 10-hour delays on the major north-south interstate that runs through my state due to all of the people driving North to Wyoming or Nebraska to see the totality

Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who voted for me in the above contest! I was one of the winners, so I flew out to San Francisco yesterday and had an amazing time! It was an unforgettable experience, and everyone who voted had a part in giving that to me!

I took over 500 photos, so I can't post them all, but here are a few of my favorites.

So I got the chance to see the solar eclipse. It was AMAZING. Words cannot describe the glorious beauty. I've seen multitudes of pictures of it, but to actually see it for myself was... idk very different. In fact, as I looked at the sun with the naked eye during totality, no picture came to my mind that compares to what I saw.

Leading up to totality, everyone noticed that there was something off about our surroundings. It's like someone placed a filter over the planet. The shadows also became different; here's a spatula and its shadow:

15 seconds before totality, the sky very quickly turned darker and darker. I saw shadow bands on a white sheet that I had laid out beforehand. I noticed that the shadow bands were stronger after totality than before, so here is some footage after totality:

During totality, the sky was dark, and the stars and planets showed their glory. It became a little chilly as well. We were situated not too far from a highway, and I noticed that there were vehicles lined up on the sides of the highway as far as I could see, with people stopping to look; the highway became a parking lot. When totality ended, I felt that it only lasted for a few seconds, even though it was about 2 minutes. I enjoyed looking at the partial phases afterward because it gave me some time to calm down. This was unlike anything I have ever experienced, and I'm so awed by the opportunity to have witnessed a total solar eclipse.

[spoiler=A PICTURE FROM MY PLACE]

Woah... I'm glad that I've discovered this thread because I really am fond of observing landscapes and taking photos of them... I also love hiking and there's no way I can ignore the beauty of surroundings and nature when I go for a walk. Also, the pictures of the other users are marvellous and enthralling in fact. I can't get enough of them! :D

Alright, time for my observation. This is a photo which I took at the edge of meadow located in the outskirts of my town. I find landscapes covered with snow really beautiful and stunning somehow. It looks so dreamy and surreal... Even though this picture is one year old, I hope you don't mind that fact because there hasn't been a sunny day with such loads of snow since the beginning of this year unfortunately. I can't help myself but value and admire this snapshot since it appears very mysterious yet calming. :)

Here the sky has this colour what about that Chris?

It's a girl! Actually she isn't a specific breed. In my town there are a lot of stray dogs and I got her when she was a puppy when I found her on a pavement. When someone asks me what kind of dog she is, I reply "It's a troittoir (pavement in French)" and everyone is like "Ooh I've never heard this breed before" and then they find out the truth[emoji14]. She turned out to be a very good and obedient dog and she just turned 6!
