The reason I don't understand the offence caused is because he simply said you're scaring other people, well you can see either you did or you didn't. He didn't even say he thought you looked scary, but it was clearly a joke anyway.

no. you're not giving him enough credit for knowing what he said. either he meant that, or he's totally ignorant. And I'm pretty sure he's smarter than that. I asked him if it was a joke. Because it wasn't funny, but I'm still not sure it wasn't a joke.
