but i enjoy coming in with a stick and poking the annoyed posters :shame:

Yes, but you're just being a wind-up merchant, which is perfectly acceptable!:P

I've listened to the singles...they are different from his previous work, yes but I think they are pretty good. He's matured a lot with his work. I'll have to listen to the album at some point.

I have to say that NONE of Dickie's solo releases have come close to what he did with The Verve for me.

However, he is an absolute god live, and that's what really counts..................................... ;)

Ā

Even the 4th Verve album?

Even the 4th Verve album?

Ā

That didn't count, as it was obviously just intended to be a "cash cow". I meant the material prior to the split.;)

THERE ARE ALREADY 2 THREADS ABOUT THIS UGLY RECORD

I am a huge Coldplay fan so everyone knows I have a good taste in music :D...so... yeah, Richard Ashcrofts new album is AMAZING. It's so incredibly uplifting. Just listen to "Let My Soul Rest", "Royal Highness" or "This Thing Called Life". I am hooked and I'm sure most people here will be too.

What?

Richard Ashcrofts Half Song Set

Ā

Richard Ashcroft was scheduled to appear at this year Splendour in the Grass in Australia. He appeared on stage but walked off half way through the first song without any warning or reason. Today his management issued this statement.

Ā

Fans of Richard Ashcroft were disappointed not to see the set at Splendour last night but allegations of Richard storming off stage due to crowd size are unfounded.Richard performed three gigs and undertook two days of heavy promotional duties and last night his voice simply gave out.

Ā

Jazz Summers, Richard Ashcroft’s manager said this morning,ā€œAfter 3 gigs in 2 days, including a 2 hour show in Sydney on Saturday night, we knew Richard would have to look after his voice for the Splendour in the Grass set so we cancelled all promotional activity for Sunday. It wasn’t until he got on stage on Sunday night at Splendour that he realized his voice wouldn’t make it through the set.

Ā

I was watching the show from the sound desk and was surprised when he appeared to missing the high notes on his opening track ā€˜Are You Ready’. I could sense his total frustration at the situation.

Ā

Immediately following the show, Richard sought advice from a doctor and was ordered not to speak or sing for 72 hours.Today he is consulting a specialist in QLD. ā€

Ā

the rumours say that he stormed off because the crowd wasnt as big as he expected it to be. ashcroft's set clashed with mumford &sons and the pixies.

wow how is that possible :disappointed:

Ā

im dieing here to see richard live someday :( shame on public!

RPA AND THE UNITED NATIONS OF SOUND

Haha, Richard Ashcroft threw a huge tantrum at Splendour!

He pretty much attacked a photographer and stormed off the stage halfway through the first song!

I know someone who went to see him, he was extremely disappointed, poor guy.
