I posted before that I wasn't thrilled that he even went to the over the top Mexican party last weekend, and I'm not thrilled about him going to the Playboy shindig either. Disclaimer: I'm glad he spent time with his wife. I'm glad they are doing things together as a couple. I'm glad they are able to get away and spend some quality time before the tour begins. I know it's his life and all that jazz. But in an article around X&Y, they talked about how it was a little strained between the four of them because things had gotten out of control including "too many swanky dinners." He's always been grounded and guarded with his private life, and the Playboy mansion just doesn't jive with that in my mind. That said, I'll cross my fingers that it's nothing and will be just fine.

The Playboy thing is odd, yes ('cause Hugh Hefner-ew), but eh. Who knows what his particular reason was for being there? There have been other artists I like who've been out at parties involving people I can't stand, other people I like have been there, too-it happens.

Fangirls can be very funny sometime. I understand the concern but take comfort in that Gwyneth is sitting at home in London with the kids, knowing that Chris is going to come out of the playboy mansion unscathed. I know the concept of a playboy mansion and Mr. Hefner is unsettling, but I have a feeling that people use it as a place of business nowadays, just to meet with others in their profession. I've read of many respectable, married and unmarried people visiting that mansion. I wish he hadn't gone there, but really it isn't a big deal.

At this point I think it's just one of those notable entertainment landmarks, one of those, "What the hell, I'm curious to check it out" sort of things.

 

I'm certainly not worried about him running off with some woman from there or something of that sort, I know full well he won't do that (not that it'd really be my business to begin with). He just doesn't seem the sort of guy who would show up at that sort of place. But like you said, all sorts of people show up there, so hey, whatever.

Good question! I've often wondered about that, too. I look at the annual People magazine list, and while some guys I like do show up in there occasionally, none of them ever make the cover, they're usually relegated to brief mentions towards the end of the list. It's the same 5 or 10 people over and over and over again at the top, or it's whomever's the big name that year. I'd really like to see someone different.

 

And it often does seem to be actors, too, yeah. I'm trying to remember if I ever have seen a musician on the cover.
