I think to get involved in something different from the MOTS era, they need to wrap up the tour. So it makes sense that maybe they finish the musical next year, or something new has got in their way, but the self-titled last album, at least the one some of us dream of, has nothing to do with singing My universe every night.

At this point I have the feeling that they scrapped the idea of releasing the other songs from the rainbow. I was so certain that we gonna get some kind of EP (like the Viva Era with Prospects March) but it has been too long for it to make sense now. They did a lot of teasing (and even performing some songs) which makes me believe they at least intended some kind of release. Could still be for the next album but for me it would be kind of out of place with the album being star oriented and the songs belonging to a rainbow.... 

If I recall correctly there was this women which is quite close to them since the early days and she teased something on twitter as well. I believe this was after the Full Moon release so it couldn't have been that..

I don't remember exactly but something along the lines of that there is more to come (new songs) and I believe for the Christmas season. Maybe someone else can chime in. 

You may be talking about Debs Wild, someone asked her about Shine On and she responded with a 🤐 emoji. Fans took her acknowledgement of the song's existence as confirmation that a release was imminent, but to be honest it probably meant nothing. Spotify also announced a Christmas edition of Moon Music, but that wound up being a playlist with Christmas Lights thrown in at the end. I don't think there's any serious evidence they were planning more Moon Music era releases following the Full Moon edition. 

My hunch is that the leftovers from Rainbow were scrapped, or they were never intended to come out in the first place. Teasing unreleased songs in artwork is a tradition that goes back to Viva la Vida. Famous Old Painters (which we only have because it leaked in full last year), Car Kids etc... Why not give Opus 5 and Sunshine the same treatment. But Chris did say to Zane Lowe Rainbow was a preview of what's coming next, whatever that means. 

As for future releases, they have an 11 night residency booked for 2027. They did a 10 show residency last month where each night had a section devoted to a different album, so it's safe to assume they're aiming for the musical to be out by 2027. By that point it will have been 3 years since Moon Music, the standard gap between Coldplay albums. I don't think the self titled will be released until after the completion of the MOTS tour. I don't think self titled will be toured either, it'll be their way of wrapping this whole era up.

Nothing will sound like peak Oldplay ever again because Oldplay died in 2011. Also consider Chris’ voice has matured considerably and does not sound anything quite like pre-2011 imo. 
They may return to those styles as part of a summary of their discography allegedly being the theme of LP12, but it certainly won’t be full on indie rock like some here mistakenly assume. At this point don’t expect anything, otherwise you’re bound to be disappointed. 

 

I know we’re assuming this era is over for content but just remember we are missing:

- GOOD FEELiNGS MV (filmed in Rome?) 

- M.U.S.I.C. (With MV filmed with dancers, included on Guy’s jacket alongside Moon Music titles,  lyrics teased on instruments mid-2025)

- Neon Forest (full version). Would be weird to release the rest of it on LP11 as it’s clearly MM era. 

- Shine On (repeatedly plastered over most tour staging and instruments with some lyrics teased during this era, appearing also in TKK MV, and also being filmed for a potential MV in Vegas for something with Chris instructing everyone there to not post online until near album release)

- The rest of Alien Hits/ Alien Radio songs which 3/7 of were released in full on MM Full Moon Edition. 
 

On top of this, a blind person (Michelle?) who previewed Moon Music with Chris well before album release reportedly heard a song which wasn’t present on the final album track list and described it as one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever. There have also been some mysterious soundchecks this year such as in Korea. Of course, there may be songs proposed for MM that may be getting pushed to LP11, but I can’t fathom there not being another edition of MM with extra tracks, or an EP, or something alongside a live Wembley album given everything we have.

You may be right that it was her. I definitely remember that the person in question was doing some writing (maybe newspapers?), not sure if Debs is doing that as well.. 

One more picture that I found is this one. Phil at some point acknowledged 3 different parts, but we all know they change their plans quite often...

Where is this info from?

Most of the information has been mentioned here before. I agree that this era isn't over yet, and it bothers me that the only thing Coldplay posts on YouTube is from FFTF. I feel like Coldplay wants to act like they're going to kill MOON MUSiC and then bring it back? I don't know if you really understand me. I'm just a little anxious for this EP to come out.

 

I'm hopeful that we'll hear some new news from Coldplay at Christmas.

I'm just waiting for a proper release of the Jon Hopkins remix of Aeterna... I need it in my iTunes library, and I don't want to wait as long as I had to for his remix of Midnight.

Ok, imagine it´s legit. "Some new music is coming". That could easily be referring to next summer or so, but anyway, what do you think it could be? My bet is the musical.

I was thinking it would be some sort of EP. Chris allegedly said the musical would take 4ish years after Moon Music released. Thus, I think the band would release an EP to give something to the fans while we are waiting for the Musical and Self-Titled

It makes sense... Even more thinking about another leg(s) of the same tour... Without new music it would be a little too much.

To throw another spanner in the works, someone had uploaded a cover of the Shine On song to YouTube and it ended up being copyrighted. A YouTube commenter asked why it’s not available and the uploader said it was copyrighted as being “track 23”. Usually this sort of thing happens prior to the release of new music

I don't think the 23 track release is coming out. It's more likely the record company has a playlist of unreleased/leaked songs set up so they can ping for copyright every time someone uploads them. It's not uncommon practice. 

At the very least, it means a studio recording of Shine On exists and someone at the label has it. Whether it will actually come out soon, who knows.

As a commercial movement, that made sense because of the huge success of VLV, but Moon Music is different, I would rather a completely separated release, just the EP.

Why are you all sure that there's an EP in the first place?
