LP11 speculations and news

We only need 1 announcement by the band this year for this endless silence to be over

I really don't think it will be announced this year, they could pull a Everyday Life and announce it a month before release but I don't think they'd do that.

  • I tried to make an HQ instrumental with all the video snippet if you want. Only the intro invented because no video of it. https://soundcloud.com/user-761343831/coldplay-unreleased-new-song-hq-seoul-s

Moon Music wasn't out until October, ditto MX. EL and AHFOD were even later than that. That's roughly the timeframe I'm expecting next year, late 2027.

i just heard two aliens (the snippet at the end of jupiter)

it was good

it has H.E.R on it

Where or how did you hear it?

Ok, I had it and I didn´t remember😂

Nice ballad, but not good enough to be in the album, in my opinion.

Moon Music is now 2 years old. It doesn't feel like that long ago but I've had two children since then.

Has there been any recent developments with Lp11 at all?

Moon Music ya tiene 2 años. No parece que haya pasado tanto tiempo, pero desde entonces he tenido dos hijos.

¿Ha habido alguna novedad reciente con respecto a Lp11?

it feels like MOON MUSiC was released yesterday, but two years!!???. Well, nobody here (i think) knows any new from LP11, i don't know why Coldplay has been so mysterious about it, Phil hasn't said anything either.

Didn't they have the album ready?

If the next one is the musical

Should we expect a movie trailer / teaser or will they release the movie after the album?

I will think the movie is after the album as the music is just now being worked on for the movie, and the movie takes a lot of time to do. I think Chris said somewhere that their LP12 would be before the movie releases, I could be wrong. After the music is done, then it'll have to be storyboarded, animated to match the songs, etc.

I think my theory is that while Coldplay are on tour for 2027 showing off possible new music, the movie will be worked on during the time!

Edit: Also yes it would make sense to be extra cagey since after all this is a really huge project that's being worked on :3

Didn't want to make another 3rd comment so I don't feel like spamming

I feel like if they're resuming the tour in 2027 and they're doing an 11 night residency, surely a new album should be released to coincide with this. Especially given it'll be 3 years since the last one, which is the standard length of time between Coldplay releases.

Chris has suggested a few times that if the musical takes too long they'll release the self-titled album first. He also said the writing for the self-titled is finished (although who knows with him) and it seems weird that Solid Ground would be a space musical track, but who knows.

I've said this before, but I recon putting out the musical soundtrack first and the film later would be the right move. It's not unprecedented. The Sorry to Bother You album came out 6 years before the movie, the American Idiot musical happened five years after the album came out, and the less said about the FutureNever film the better. But there's no reason why the band couldn't tour the songs next year and put out the film after the tour is done.

having two kids and zero sleep has destroyed my ability to spell correctly

For me personally I would really prefer the self titled album to be the last one. Since it is basically them signing off and going back to their roots. I wouldn't mind 13 albums or an EP in between but lets see what the future holds.

I want the self titled album to be the last one because the musical is supposedly going to be MOTS vol III, and it might not be good considering how mid the first 2 were, The Self titled one will be a proper send off with the band going back to their roots

I mean I know AETERNA fucks but I didn’t think it could be in that kind of way!

It would be weird if the next album is Coldplay with all this silence, Phil mentioned like 3 years ago or something that Chris finished writing the self titled album. They would have announced it by now. The only reason they would be that silent is that they're working on the Musical which will go in line with Chris said about Aliens radio/ Aliens hits that it teases their next project.

Even if everything is ready, they’re def gonna have a long promo cycle if it’s the musical. We’d likely have to wait a couple more months even after the announcement.

I'd be amazed if we heard anything before 2027

That said, Coldplay are one of those rare bands that releases stuff in December so who knows.

I was going to write something similar… about the final Coldplay album; it should arrive with a huge media campaign, to sell the idea that is the last one and back to basics and all that. But there is the possibility of it being published before the musical, and in my opinion that would be a less proper ending (even when I don ´t really believe it will be a real end).

Since MM was released my expectations about LP 11 are low, not because I think it's going to be a bad album but an average record. I hope they really go ahead with this one, exploring new sounds, deeper lyrics, interesting blends of musical styles.

Coldplay it's a great band, very creative, so, it would be great if they surprised us. let's see what happens next year.

Yeah I've been thinking about it recently with U2 releasing a new single that's very boring and to little fanfare. It's pretty easy to fall of the map at this stage in your career, and I do think LP11, following the trend of MOTS and MM, is unlikely to get a lot of hype around it. The music has been somewhat dumbed down and Max Martin's production is way too safe and clean. Maybe it all works well for a decently fun, massive world tour but these albums aren't hitting like they used to and I think the pop music world already ran a lap around Coldplay ironically by bringing back indie rock in the mainstream (look at Olivia Rodrigo, for example).

Unless the musical ends up being an unexpected hit, their "last" album might be their last shot at making a big splash if they go back to basics and really market it in a nostalgiac way. That's for a general pop audience. For fans like us, I think we all still want something with super strong songwriting and organic production that highlights their best tendencies (interesting ambient production, skillful piano, melodic guitar and cathartic build ups), regardless of genre.

Yeah it seems like with the last two albums they’ve been dumbing down a little for the stadium audience, esp cuz we know from EL they have the songwriting chops in them. Songs like VLV or ETIAW are clearly very ‘pop’ yet still are high quality pieces of work, whereas something like FLIFIL lacks that. The band have forgotten songs can be successful and still good.

Hello,

Well, I get the feeling that this break is going to last longer than expected, as I thought in 2025. The end of the tour was a bit weird with those roadies whose contracts ended without any plans for a future tour.

I'm also surprised by one thing (in a positive way): Chris seems to be spending a lot more time in London since his breakup, seemingly "reconnecting" with his roots. I know it's his life and none of my business, but I think his musical influences have changed quite a bit since he moved to LA permanently. Meanwhile, it's radio silence from Guy, which is pretty rare; he's usually always doing things on the side.

Then again, there were those listening sessions for a completely finished album... It's really bizarre. I'm probably wrong, but I have a hard time believing that the tour as we knew it will resume. It's really the kind of tour produced to make cash and it must honestly be exhausting and tiresome.
