August 8, 200817 yr can you tell me what's good about their new song ? The drum beat is reminiscent of David Bowie's 'Let's Dance'. It is totally unlike anything Keane have done before, except possibly Under Pressure and Dirtylicious. You can sense the fun they've had making this album. The guitar riff is bloody amazing. The piano has a classic sound to it. The synth bass is great, gives the song a sense of fun. The car skidding sound effect is totally random but just works. Tom's voice kicks ass. It's really catchy. It makes me feel happy. I can't think of another song out at the moment that is like this at all. I don't understand what's so confusing about it. Yes, it's different (Even more different than Viva is to X&Y!) but so what.
August 8, 200817 yr They wanna sounds like the killer now,the way he sings is too much similar to brandon flowers
August 8, 200817 yr come on guys, stop making the Keane thread a thread for Keane haters, their new song is different, i personally like it, but give them a chance!, there's gonna be more of their traditional songs on the album though!
August 8, 200817 yr They wanna sounds like the killer now,the way he sings is too much similar to brandon flowers i love keane, but i must admit when i heard the new single i thought the singing was very similar to the killers
August 8, 200817 yr They wanna sounds like the killer now,the way he sings is too much similar to brandon flowers :stunned: How the hell does Tom's singing sound anything like Brandon Flowers?! :huh2:
August 8, 200817 yr Blimey, TWO people think Tom sounds like Brandon Flowers?! I don't hear that, but there's worse people he could sound like :P
August 8, 200817 yr i think tom sounds like brandon on the first line of the new song but that's the only part. i love the little percussion bits that richard has added to the new song. seriously if you forget the cheesy "whoos" it's a really good song :D
August 8, 200817 yr So in one corner you have the lovers of the new sound, and in the other corner you have the haters of the new sound. It's good when a band changes styles that the fanbase is spilt into 2
August 8, 200817 yr So in one corner you have the lovers of the new sound, and in the other corner you have the haters of the new sound. It's good when a band changes styles that the fanbase is spilt into 2 Well, there's also the wishy-washy ones like me not bothering to post. :P I don't hate "Spiralling", but I don't really like it, either...it's good at some points, but repetitive and/or cheesy at others. They kinda overdid it with the dance-beat and the "whoo" noises, but the lyrics are interesting. 3/5 stars...good, but not great. Hopefully the other songs on this album aren't quite so weird.
August 9, 200817 yr Ok, after playing the song a few times, I have finally come to the conclusion that I like this song very much! It's so 80's sounding but in a good way. It's catchy like hell! And yes, he sounds like Brandon Flowers, but only in the first few lines! :) I likey. Except that 'did you wanna be a star, did you wanna be famous' bit. The echoes sound cheesy. :P
August 9, 200817 yr Except that 'did you wanna be a star, did you wanna be famous' bit. The echoes sound cheesy. :P Like Bros??
August 11, 200817 yr i think tom sounds like brandon on the first line of the new song but that's the only part. i love the little percussion bits that richard has added to the new song. seriously if you forget the cheesy "whoos" it's a really good song :D i feel exactly the same! ive listened to atlantic 15 times today :D (best keane song ever!)
August 11, 200817 yr I'm not getting the Brandon Flowers comparisons either. Keane and The Killers are both among my favorite bands, but I personally just don't hear Tom sounding like Brandon at all. And let's face it, Tom Chaplin could sing both Brandon Flowers and Chris Martin under a table. (And I mean that with the utmost respect because they, along with Bono, comprise my favorite frontmen in the world right now.)
August 12, 200817 yr I really like their new song. It sounds a bit like 80s Genesis (like around Shapes or Invisible Touch), which is pretty cool because I love those albums. It's definitely a huge departure from their usual sound. I hope the whole album doesn't sound like this, but it's good to see they're experimenting.
August 16, 200817 yr I watched the episode of scrubs with "A Bad Dream" on it, where laverne dies today. and it made me remember how perfect that song is. the lyrics are something phenomenal!
August 16, 200817 yr ^ :wideeyed: I.... I love that song. That was the song that made me even like them. Well, that, Crystal Ball, and Bedshaped. woohoo!
August 16, 200817 yr it's there best song by a long shot. their first album is way better than the second too. :) I like "Your Eyes Open" too
August 16, 200817 yr I know! You're Eyes Open is AWESOME. and i agree. their first album is a bit better than their second album. gah bedshaped. man it's so good.
August 16, 200817 yr I agree, I do find the first album better than the second, but songs like Crystal Ball, Nothing In My Way, and A Bad Dream make the second one sooo good still. :D I love that line 'baby I'm a man, I was born to hate...'
August 16, 200817 yr ^ I KNOWWWWWWWWW! It's just so good! plus I the song Atlantic. That's way good. And I like the song Is It Any Wonder.:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:
August 16, 200817 yr Eeee I can't believe I forgot about Atlantic and Is It Any Wonder!! Atlantic has that freaky scary vibe, but it's so chilling and amazing! :D Have you seen the music video for it? It's creepy, haha.
