Was at a wedding today. DJ's list was not so great, but at least it included Viva La Vida (to which I, usually a non-dancer, rocked off, much to the bemusement of the other people...). Asked for Paradise. DJ said he doesn't have it. Asked him what he has from Coldplay; he had just four titles, including Lost, which I chose. He played it and it was not at all Lost, but a rather sh***y remix of ETIAW (!!) not including the riff, but instead featuring the singing parts put to a completely different drumbeat. The last remaining people left the dancefloor and now I feel bad about my misfortunate suggestion (but really, it wasn't my fault, was it ?).

I so wish it would happen. How I wish...how I wish you where here ! Ah, nope, that's Pink Floyd. What about: I wish your single was special. So ******* special. But you are creeps, you are weirdooooos...errm, nope, doesn't fit either. OK, got it: All I want, in this world, all I want, and deserve is for the single to droooopp - now !

Really ? Here it goes again, the discussion :) I love Proof, the melody, the instrumentation, his falsetto. I agree the lyrics sound as if they were taken from a first-grader's school notes, but this is the only weak point of it. Liiiiiiiight and daaaaaark....

I enjoyed reading all your interpretations, but honestly, the first 4 albums are imho just NOT concept albums. Of course they have common themes. Briefly said: Parachutes - Melancholy, Insecurity, Safety A Rush of Blood To The Head - Urgency, Impatience, Time X&Y - Insecurity on a greater level, Fitting in the greater concept of things VLVODAAHF - Life vs. Death, and Love And you can with some fantasy make a story out of almost everything, but this is entirely speculative and unlikely. I hope Coldplay won't release any more concept albums, because in my opinion they are better at putting out albums with songs floating around a common theme. AROBTTH, for me, conveys a lot more raw emotions and emotional turmoil than Ghost Stories, and considering that this was actually GS's purpose, it didn't convey its message very well, I guess.

Tbh i don't see much of a storyline there. The same theme, yes; the same story, no.

Now that sounds like an elaborated plan from your part ;) Yeah, it would make sense to combine VLVODAAHF with Prospekt's March and the b-sides, just moving along Era by Era. As for the live albums, my idea was that while here we only eliminate songs for their "song value", when we do the elimination game with the live albums another component enters, that is visual performance. So we can find out not only the most liked songs, but also the most liked performances. But well, we can just wait and see, for the moment we have enough, LOL.

Well, tastes vary ;) and for example for me, Rainy Day is the worst song to come out of the whole Era. I just can't stand it, the way he sings, the instrumentation, everything. As for Ink, dunno, imho it's a bit bland, boring, has got lots of pointless and annoying dududududu dududududud's...like most of GS, really. But I dislike the entire album, and Ink does not stand out for a positive way to me (out of GS, I only like Fly On and Ghost Story).

Viva la Vida is one of my favourite songs. Of course it is very far from the typical vintage Coldplay sound I love most, and Chris's vocals on it while technically faultless don't really shine out here compared to for example songs on AROBTTH or X&Y, but this brilliant, brilliant, brilliant melody, soaring instrumentation and vibe is something that you really need to come up with first !

Actually, I'd love it if it would sound like Cemeteries of London, which imho has a good balance between dark undertones and a strong and vibrant guitar melody.

@thetwinparadox: Honestly, I'd be in favor of voting out 2 songs every round instead of one. It's nice as a way of spending time waiting for AHFOD and beyond :D but there is no reason to drag it out - this is only Parachutes, so after Parachutes we have 5 more games to be played (6 if you include Prospekt's March EP). And then there are the unreleased songs which you said you wanted to keep for an extra game. And after all that there is Live 2003 and Live 2012, if you will. And by the time we have arrived there Coldplay will have released AHFOD, LP8 and LP9 and we'll all have grey hair. No damage in speeding this up a little bit :D
