  1. Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry... (BTW, Coldplay counts as "any artist". Just so you all know that :D)

  3. ummmm yeah...
  4. A doorway is used to connect two rooms together, or to lead from a room into somewhere else. Just something that seperates and connects two areas together. In this thread we need to make connections to the random words and the songs. These connections we make are like doorways that they connect two areas, and in this case ideas together. And of course this thread is all about linking random things to Coldplay :D Hair dryer
  5. Postcards From Far Away is really short just like Parachutes. Yet undeniably great.
  6. Up&Up, and the live debut at that. :D
  7. in that line it's "so stay 'round", the others it is that tho... And it's me they're looking for
  8. U.F.O. Lord I don't know which way I am going Which way the river gonna flow It's just seems that upstream, I keep rowing Still got such a long way to go Still got such a long way to go vs Parachutes In a hazy, a stormy haze I'll be round, I'll be loving you always Always Here I am and I'll take my time Here I am and I'l wait in line always Always
  9. Tbh this song has grown on me a lot and I like it better than a few of the others on the list but really it's pretty much over now... True Love
  10. Hope your wrong too! :D
  11. Sorry for not color coding and stuff guys. Too busy right now... It also makes it official that there will be completely new songS coming out. And completely new, not just leftovers. Exciting times my friend :D Well both LiTii and Glass of Water both had that upbeat sound that would come to dominate the MX era. Those, and the title track to an extent, are also using more synths to create sort of an electronic rock atmosphere, especially with GoW, when it explodes you can hear that synth sound thingy in the background, just a really dense explosive song that would be explored in the following era. Lost+ explored collaborating with big name artists which they did with Rihanna in the following album, I think that song could have paved the way for PoC which I personally like (and surprisingly you do too to an extent...) (So underrated!!! As is the whole MX era...) Seriously, LiJ seriously reminds me of MX, especially that sound at the beginning that sounds like a higher pitched, less "rocky", and lighter version of the sound in that one really epic section of Major Minus (before the guitar solo... starts around 2:05) Just everything about it, sounds like a Coldplay evolving into their next sound but still kind of within the dominant sound at the time. Seriously, if it were placed in MX I don't think it would sound that out of place. Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground is reminiscent of the acoustic songs in MX. I know this was just released 6 months after Viva but I think even in that timeframe some sort of evolution in their sound can happen. As for the era as a whole hinting towards a poppier theme, I noticed that the title of Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love is inspired off of one of the names of Justin Timberlake's albums, where it's also a split title like that. (FutureSex/LoveSounds) Around this time he started becoming friends with big pop acts, all the while the band only seeing to explore more diversity in their music. And of course they did the thing with Jay Z. Overall as the band progressed, from one album to the next, ever since Parachutes their sound has gotten bigger and louder, not counting anything after Mylo, which was their peak (I even think it's more explosive than AHFOD, which is a good thing. If you're going to make uplifting music, don't try to hide it a bit. Go all out! That's what they missed in AHFOD. It's what made MX so good for me.) Actually, they said they're working on new songs so maybe the songs other than the originals could be the leftovers... All good points, I agree! And this EP will actually come out later than a year too. If PM hinted at new styles with the more synths and upbeat sounds on LiT and GoW, I can only imagine what this will show off, since it's been more than twice that long now. That soundcheck was interesting, and the fact they said more guitar based songs are on the way makes me even more excited. Hopefully this time will be the time where a lot of the people here are going to be pleasently surprised!!!!! :D I really love the colorful songs Coldplay has done. But as we all know Coldplay don't quite do things three times. Really colorful songs they did on MX and AHFOD. So I wouldn't really expect that. And who knows, hopefully we'll be pleasently surprised and get some really good stuff :D ...huh? I don't hear how MX production is worse than AHFOD, I mean it sounds just so much nicer, and it really isn't overly watered down and electronic like this era can be... Correct production for the style. Quite a few layers, yes. But it makes it interesting... I don't know, Eno I guess did a really good job on it, it sounded so nice, especially the small instrumental sections before some of the songs... It's amazing... GS is beautiful production wise. In contrast to the era before it it allowed some breathing room for the sounds in that era in most songs. They weren't afraid ot silence in parts. And really the better songs of the era are so beautiful and atmospheric... really a wonderful job in that era by them... My opinion here.. I know right? For creativity especially the Viva era was their peak. Truly original stuff, I mean look at The Goldrush or A Spell A Rebel Yell as well. How one can think of those songs... beyond me. A lot of the songs are like that, if they were by any normal band they'd sound much more "normal" and restricted, here they really expand in diversity... I agree about Thom Yorke as well.... absolute genious. Yeah, he's what made MX actually good. AHFOD and MX are similar albums. The difference? One produced by Eno and one by Stargate. What sounds truer, more genuine and overall better fitting to Coldplay's actual sound and for creativity sake? Eno's production on MX. I bet without him that would have been a worse album... I mean there's so many layers and stuck down far in the mix is some really cool stuff, and I like it down there because over time when you listen to the song you discover these things, for example there's this really neat background synth sound in Charlie Brown that's easier to hear with the instrumental, I really noticed it when making an extended version of it. Little things like that ya know. Every song on the album IMO is just wonderfully produced. A really atmospheric upbeat pop rock album. And the rocky side at that. Some "pop rock" is really overly poppy, MX ain't like that really... :D Jon Hopkins and Eno would be extremely fun again. Both absolute geniouses what they do. Them together... amazing What?!!? Sorry but MX isn't "modern pop" (if I'm reading your statement correctly). Stargate watered down AHFOD a lot, and even with the super high quality files I got which is a massive improvement and allows me to hear some things much better than the leaked version I still had before that, I still prefer MX's production and is probably my favorite production out of any album. I don't see anything wrong with it.. suits Coldplay's style, and the style of the music to truly bring out what's best in it. More info on why I like it above, this whole post is long enough already... Ouchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Stargate in Coldplay's earliest albums? Don't even get me started thinking about it! Nonononoononon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not mad at the vocal snippets like some people are here. I think they fit the song really well and it's just something cool I guess... BTW from my above post don't think I'm getting mad at Stargate, I think he did good too but completely wrecked Up&Up (seriously, it sounds like there are tracks missing in there at points). Don't know too much about Ryan Tedder...
  12. Not directly, but someone I know who I sucked into being a Coldplay fan got criticised for it, but in more a joking way, as he was tapping to Coldplay on the radio and the people around him teased that he liked Coldplay which he did. Sq
  13. Ha, just like me! :D Nice acoustic, stripped down piece. Nothing groundbreaking or spectacular, yet nothing bad either. Good and solid b side. I like to think of a rather rainy morning, and there's another scene or picture that's hard to describe that comes to my mind... Another thing I think of is "what the heck is a sleeping sun"?? Lol. I'm not sure if it's a semi commonly used phrase or something and if so I never heard of it. But overall, is a nice song. Postcards From Far Away
  14. Seems like we're only slowing down :P 66748
  15. That's good, maybe he's realizing that we want actual answers and stuff this time. It's all good to joke around and stuff and I like that too but now we're getting interesting stuff...
  16. That would be epic, hopefully some of us aren't let down once again. I can't view what you posted though..
  17. Same, I really like ambient stuff too.
  18. Yes. Have you ever wrote a song? If so did you record it? :D
  19. Yeah, if it isn't a track and was just improv for fun it should be made into an actual track and released. :D
  20. I completely agree with you. I like some JH albums better than others but I can't really pick a favorite. They are all amazing! I really love Opalescent as well and agree with you on the soft atmospheres and melodies. One of the greatest albums to just chill out too and I don't believe there is a better album to listen to in the background when you're doing something. He did a wonderous job with this album in making music that fits Brian Eno's description of ambient music, in which he states that "Ambient music must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular; it must be as ignorable as it is interesting." Also, you know if he got any albums on the way soon? Probably not considering he takes a lot of time on his albums, and rightfully so. Quality over quantity!
  21. Lol well hopefully that new song played at soundcheck doesn't disappoint you. :D \ I can definitely see the resemblance to mainstream music in AOAL. For me personally though I don't really care if the song has beat drops or chopped vocals and the woohoos or whatever else kinda tricks are used to get mainstream popularity, if it sounds nice I'll like it. I'll openly admit though that there is much more artistic, original, and insightful stuff out there. I like an extremely wide variety of music, from "I Bloom Blaum" to Surrender Clubland mix Al storm, to Closer by Chainsmokers and Where I End and You Begin by Radiohead. And really rocky music, really just you name it. And even though AOAL is probably not one of my favs from album I still really like it I guess. Slowly but surely.. the album growing on you. I really like the artwork from this era too. :D
  22. Yeah I know it cuts off randomly, that's because the album this is on is really meant to be listened to in one full run. In most cases each song's ending directly fits into the next song's intro. I personally have never listened to the full thing myself but I think it would be cool. What a unique song, I mean this artist is truly incredible with the things he even does now which is a bit different. Once you make the leap into music that isn't top 40 pop music you really start to appreciate songs like this that outside of a few exceptions probably no song exists like it.
  23. 66746 Yeah, who knows if this thread will even live to see the way where it could get 1000000.... If we dont speed it up
