  2. It'll almost certainly be better than MX and X&Y, but probably not as good as AROBTTH or VLV. I'll probably prefer it to Parachutes, but I'll have to wait and see.
  3. I think it's apt. MX was a big grandiose pop record so it was promoted as such; huge pop singles, crazy over-the-top live performances, colorful in-your-face imagery, a multi-media concept story etc... Ghost Stories is a much more subtle and understated record, so it's appropriate that the promotion is as well. I also wonder if the more subtle marketing campaign has something to do with Chris and Gwenyth's split. It's still big news at the moment and it's understandable Chris wouldn't want to talk about it, so he'd be trying to stay out of the limelight as much as possible whilst still promoting a new album. Releasing it comparatively quietly and simply allowing the music to speak for itself seems like the most sensible thing. Coldplay are big enough to get away with that now.

  5. Of all the rumors, this is by far the silliest. :laugh3:
  6. The outfits were my least favourite parts of the VLV era. I understand the thinking behind it, but I'm not convinced they pulled it off. MX was yeah... MX. I'd be happy to see them return to a more casual look; less gimmicks and more focus on the music.
  7. I can only speak for myself, but it seems like MX might've scared most of them off. It wasn't well received down here at all back in 2011 and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of them simply gave up on Coldplay afterwards.
  8. Subtlety! Darkness! Dynamics! Not an annoying chorus, generic hook or wildly inappropriate guest spot in sight! Welcome back, Coldplay. Damn, this is addictive.
  9. It's now emerged that this is probably wrong; the man who died was Scott Johnson, the groups drum tech and a good friend of Clive Deamers.
  10. If the acoustic version didn't have Rihanna on it, Princess Of China would actually be a fairly decent track.
  11. All the "obvious" singles off the album have been released now, and it's rare for an album to have more than 4 singles. Parachutes, AROBTTH and X&Y only had four (if you ignore What If which was a European exclusive single with no video). VLV seemed to have a trillion, which was odd, but I doubt the same thing would happen again this time. Besides, Up With The Birds could count as the 5th single given it was a Record Store Day release.
  12. Don't get too excited, it's a 4 track EP not an album.
  13. If I wasn't a former Muse fan and so sure Matt is being serious I'd say it was hilarious. Instead it's just tragic. They lost me with The Resistance. I'll give the new album a spin but my expectations are at rock bottom.
  14. As bad as ETIAW and Paradise were as songs, they had pretty good music videos. Charlie Brown was bad, but it seems so good in comparison to this new one. That said, it fits the song perfectly. The song is and has always been complete shite so it makes sense that the video is too.
  15. My first thought after seeing this "Hm... the Charlie Brown vid wasn't really that bad, was it?"
  16. It's unexpected news, but I don't doubt they'll make a smashing trio.
  17. I needed a Panadol after clicking those links
  18. I wouldn't hold your breath for a physical retail release or a b-side. Physical singles and b-sides are outdated concepts now, unfortunately. That's just the way it works nowadays. ETIAW was released as an EP, but I can't see that happening with PoC. Why would they give the fourth single a proper release and not the second or third singles? It wouldn't make sense.
  19. I kinda felt like they went in a really interesting direction with Under The Iron Sea and Perfect Symmetry. The new single kind of undoes all that and reverts back to same old, same old, except less interesting. I'll give the new album a listen but I don't hold out much hope
  20. If I recall correctly Clocks wasn't that successful at the time of it's release, at least not in Australia anyway. But as we all should know by now, that meant nothing in the long run.
  21. Pretty much this. I'm just thankful the live version exists, so at least there's ONE great video for this song. The Hardest Part? Really? I'm not a fan of the new Charlie Brown but I still haven't found enough Brain Bleach to erase The Hardest Part vid from my memory.
  22. It's... ok. The live version is much better. It's probably Mat's worst video for a Coldplay song though.
  23. High Violet may goddamn well be my favourite album of all time. And I listen to a lot of music.
  24. I combined all the mini-tracks with their parent tracks the second I got the album so I don't even think of AHT as it's own song anymore, it's just the intro to DLIBYH. MTM works perfectly between Charlie Brown and MMIX I think. Beautiful transitions, much smoother than sticking UATW in there. Although I like that song too, and I agree if any song should've been dropped it's definitely PoC.
