I'm curious to see what the overall consensus will be. I think it's widely agreed that GS is better than MX, but will it be seen as better than X&Y?

I listened to Never Gonna Give You Up last night and realized... it's been 5 years since I last heard it. When he sung "never gonna make you cry" I did legitimately shed a tear.

It's odd for sure, but it's fair to assume MX is to blame for that.

I'm torn on this one. Four songs are fucking incredible (which is more than I can say for MX), four songs I'm indifferent towards and one I don't like at all. It's certainly an improvement over MX but it doesn't come close to the brilliance of the first two records or Viva.

Production aint perfect but it's a trillion times better than MX. I feel like they've learnt their lesson on this one.

FWIW I think the True Love solo is genius. One of the best parts of that song.

The iTunes stream cuts out 2 minutes of silence. I think it's better that way. Both parts of this song are utterly beautiful.

1. Oceans - Totally exceeded my expectations. Fucking brilliant in every single way. 5/5 2. O - Dissapointed that neither this or the hidden track are longer, but it's all beautiful. "Maybe one day I'll fly next to you" cut through me life a knife. 5/5 3. Midnight - Really fits in well with the rest of the album. It was an odd choice for a single, but I'm so glad it's here. 4.5/5 4. Always In My Head - I loved the live version like crazy. The studio version still needs to grow on me a bit, but it's an amazing song regardless of how it's recorded. 4.5/5 5. Another's Arms - I like it but don't love it. Lots of ingredients to make a great song in here but for some reason it never fully clicks. 4/5 6. True Love - If this was just voice and orchestra it would shoot right near the top of my list. But that fucking Timbaland beat ruins it for me. Which is a shame as it could've been the best song on here. 3.5/5 7. Magic - Great production, great bassline, and it's catchy. But like Another's Arms, there's an indefinable something standing in the way of making it great. 3.5/5 8. Ink - Dunno how to feel about this one. The beat is awful and the melodies are right out of the FM top 40 charts. It could've easily have been an overblown MX anthem, but the subtle production saves it. All in all, I kinda like it. 3/5 9. A Sky Full Of Stars - Ugh. 2/5
