  2. I've got a rather unpopular opinion as I think X&Y is by far their best. I'm not a huge Parachutes fan either but I still think MX is their worst to date.
  3. Charlie Brown was the first thought that immediately popped into my head.
  4. Knowing Pitchfork, AROBTTH will probably get a 10.0 once they bring out the Anniversary Edition in 2017.
  5. The various industry pressures have finally gotten to them. :\
  6. Colbert even asked Chris if he was high on The Colbert Report. He didn't deny that he was. Gotta say Chris has been acting a little more muted as of late. Whether or not that has anything to do with drugs, I don't know.
  7. That's fair point. But it takes a strong man to get through all that. At the moment I'm putting myself in Chris Martin's shoes. This would mark the second major lawsuit in as little as three years (on top of several other plagiarism allegations). Put that on top of the not-so-positive reception of Mylo Xyloto and all the bullshit that's been going on behind the scenes at EMI... walking away from the whole thing could end up being quite tempting. They gone through things like this before and survived and hopefully if they're really passionate, they'll do so again. One does wonder though, if there'll ever be a straw that'll break the camel's back.
  8. Amen. Seriously though, this could be trouble. I still don't think Satch had a fair case and he made too much of the whole thing, but the PoC thing is fairly blatant - even to my Coldplay fanboy ears. The Coldplay boys had best have loads of fun and party as hard as they can now, because shit's about to hit the fan really soon. It could potentially be the death of them.
  9. I'll just stick with a top 10 this year. I've left out the more obscure albums (my actual favourites) which were never going to chart high anyway. This list is subject to change, of course. 1. Radiohead - The King Of Limbs 2. Kaiser Chiefs - The Future Is Medieval 3. Wild Beasts - Smother 4. R.E.M. - Collapse Into Now 5. The Antlers - Burst Apart 6. Snowman - Absence 7. The Boxer Rebellion - The Cold Still 8. Elbow - Build A Rocket Boys! 9. dEUS - Keep You Close 10. Wilco - The Whole Love
  10. Like the vid for ETIAW, the Paradise vid made the song almost bearable. I didn't like the end but I loved the rest of it. And for those who don't like it, bear this in mind. It could've been a girly vid directed by Hype Williams. I'll take a silly elephant video over that any day. I'm not gonna lie, there's a part of me that hopes they will ditch EMI after this release, go independent, and record a much darker, less gimmicky and less radio friendly album. However, I doubt this'll happen. There's a part of me which feels Coldplay have hit the point of no return now.
  11. No there won't be. Chris confirmed in an interview they scrapped the first video because it was too depressing.
  12. I edited the tracks before I even listened to the album for the first time and re-tagged it all to be an 11 track album. It works for me. I can't imagine listening to HLH or DLIBYH without their intros. I do wonder though, what the hell is wrong with doing an album entirely made up of normal length songs? VLV had all that double-track business and now MX has a bunch of intros with their own track numbers, when they would've made fine 13 and 11 track albums respectively.
  13. I would be surprised if Charlie Brown and PoC weren't singles. If there are any after that, I don't know what they would be.
  14. I'd say giving the album 0/10 is equally as silly as giving it an immediate 10/10.
  15. Apparently they scrapped the Hype Williams clip because it wasn't happy enough. So you're basically right.
  16. Hats off to Chris for being able to ride a unicycle in an elephant costume.
  17. I like it quite a bit as well, though it's hard for me to get past the fact it sounds EXACTLY like a later-day U2 song.
  18. I think it's actually worse in context of the album, it gets between two decent songs and ruins the flow somewhat.
  19. I suspect it was at one point, hence all those early reports of ETIAW having a long intro. I've just attached all the interludes to their parents tracks with audio editing software so my version of MX is 11 songs long. MMIX makes ETIAW sound a bit better and more interesting, but doesn't add a whole lot. Certainly undeserving of it's own track.
  20. Anyone else notice it's basically a reprise of Mylo Xyloto? Took me a few listens to realize that :embarrassed:
  21. Surprise - Don't Let It Break Your Heart. The title made me fear the worst but it turned out amazing. Disappointment - Princess Of China. And it's not because of Rihanna. I can give or take that. It's just because the overuse of bad synths and terrible production in the song has rendered it soulless.
  22. A Rush Of Blood To The Head X&Y Viva la Vida Parachutes MX
  23. I haven't compiled a list of my least favourite Coldplay songs or anything but I'm sure this would be in the bottom 3 at least. It's awful.
  24. I thought about giving it a 6/10 but I gave it a 7 because it's much better than expected. It contains 3 of Coldplay's worst ever songs (Paradise, ETIAW and PoC) and I'm not sure any of the songs off here would find a place in my top 10 favourite CP tracks. And I do think it's Coldplay's worst album. That said, it's not too bad really. I was expecting it to be a complete trainwreck and it just isn't. Some of the songs are forgettable but most are fairly decent. Overall it's a fairly inoffensive but enjoyable listen. I've been listening to it quite a lot over the past day so they must be doing something right.
