Misleading thread title alert. Five new live recordings is not "the rest of the album". Well I really hope not anyway. That would be a new low for Coldplay.

Voted yes. Not because I know it will be but because I would like it to be. It's a better title than anything else people have come up with recently.

The fact that most of the threads in the ETIAW subforum are critical of the song says a lot, and that there's a 41 page thread on a Coldplay forum discussing how bad it is. And it's not just here, every message board I've been onto discussing the new song has very few positive things to say about it, and it's currently got an average rating of 2.43 on RYM - their lowest score ever. There is a lot of criticism going around about this song, much more than usual. But I get your point. The mindless sheep of the world will no doubt flock to this song and give it a high chart position for several weeks on end.

I still love AROBTTH and all it's b-sides. And as strange as it may sound, I love X&Y too. Never understood the hate for it at all. I love about half of Viva la Vida and found the other half to be rather meh. I'm hoping LP5 will contain at least one amazing or worthwhile track.

I've gotta say, watching these events over the last few days has been amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a fanbase react so unfavorably towards a new release before. The backlash against Coldplay in the last day or so has been incredible... you know a song is bad when even the die-hard fans refuse to accept it. Even Debs got quite upset about it. I wonder if the band themselves have any idea what's going on. Food for thought. I'm not a fan of the song either, it's probably my least favorite Coldplay song ever. But just watching so many people get offended by it is... well it's entertaining viewing to say the least.

The new live songs sound alright. Just alright. I'll need to hear studio versions before I pass judgement.

I've now decided it's about half and half quality wise, which works out perfectly given they're asking you to pick 10 anyway.

Someone sent me a link to Politik about an hour ago. It really depressed me, for those same reasons.

As far as marketing strategy goes it's a brilliant idea. But poorly executed imo. But this is world of music, and musically this album more than makes up for the trainwrecks that were Off With Their Heads and Yours Truly Angry Mob. Holy fuck.... after all these years I'm finally a Kaiser Chiefs fan again! It's like I've gone in a time machine or something.

I don't care if they got permission or not, it still sounds exactly the same. At least with Talk it was only a riff. This time it's pretty much the whole song. Why did they even bother writing new words?

OK, now I've heard the song. And... erm......... Christmas Lights was much, much better. :\
