What's the definition of an Osaka Sun?
It could be either - compared to the UK there can be quite dramatic sunrises and sunsets in Osaka (and in Japan generally). As far as I remember Chris was partly inspired to write the song when he was up early in the morning in Osaka and the skyline was dramatic. I think some of the impression was very much due to being in such an exotic city (for many English people) with such a different culture. I see the song as a yearning for certain things through the new perspective of the situation he found himself in. PM me if you want links to dramatic sun pictures around Osaka or Japan :)

Coldplaying Lottery - Would you like to attend the Exeter Homecoming Gig?
 Please don't post that you might want it if you cannot 100% definitely attend. This ticket could be sold for charity for many hundreds of pounds. I hope whoever wins this is a true fan and utterly deserves this incredible opportunity. Good luck everybody :)

How many remote controls do you have?
About twenty, but only three are ever used - 2 TVs and one PS3.

Coldplay End Of The Decade Sale - Lottery (NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES)
I would love to be able to help out with the banking and bidding, but unfortunately I have so little free time at the moment, and can only get online at odd moments :( Personally I think £2 is far too little to have a chance of winning anything. I would say at least £5, but not too much more, because otherwise that is a very large amount of money for people living in countries with weak exchange rates. I also think it's a nice idea if everyone has an equal chance to win, even if one or two very rich members did decide to contribute more just to boost the chance of winning :)

We will be a little short of puns for the next week
I can quite believe it having met Anthony Daniels (sp?) - C3PO - a very odd individual indeed. Warwick Davis (R2D2 and also Wicket, I think) I haven't met myself but is meant to be a lovely man.

I met C3PO in the flesh once (i.e. without his suit on)...horrible, arrogant, ugly, self-obsessed little man he was...quite appropriate for this thread I guess.

I'm trying my best to think of it as the same way Africans are related to Europeans...it's the only way to cope :laugh3:

You can say all that again! Isn't there a saying 'you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family'? My family tree's been traced back to the 16th century, and sidewise every which way from there (pretty much) and he's still not on it (thank goodness) so if we are related it's very distant indeed. We share the same surname, but only that, and of course there might be some adoption at some point in his lineage. Our surname (throughout history we have bred like rabbits :P), is worldwide now, but originates from a very small area of England. Oh, well, isn't it lovely and peaceful here right now? :)

MAJOR panic now here - I've only just realised that this clashes with an important birthday party where I am one of the main guests....am desperately trying to sort this out asap. EEK!!

We will be a little short of puns for the next week
He's not a stranger to me (in fact it turns out, very sadly, that he is a distant relative of mine :()- he's someone who has been deeply unpleasant in person on repeated occasions to my real life friends. I've had many chances over the last year to meet him in person, but have decided to avoid the inevitable conflict. Not any more. Provoking me and then repeatedly lying, and then insulting me in a language he knows I don't understand...I cannot wait to see him when he's next in London and give a him a very large piece of my mind.

I guess it's taken quite a few people a long time to wise up to his ways. Plus, not everyone spends 24/7 online here like he does, so probably lots of people missed an awful lot. Personally I think he should have been banned outright when he upset that group of girls so much with his persistent trolling that they left and set up their own forum. Or when he caused so much trouble when made a mod. Or....I will break my keyboard if I go on. It's Ian and Jen's prerogative, and I respect the laid-back way they run this board - they are lovely laid-back people. Unfortunately though Mark takes full advantage of it. I'm a member of around ten online communities and he would not be tolerated anywhere other than here. By the way Reilly, nice to meet you. I've read many obnoxious insults about you from Mark (most of them, of course, in places he knew you wouldn't see them) so you must be a stand-up guy :)

Yes, really. How do you think he won 'funniest poster' award? It certainly wasn't through being punny  - unless there are an awful lot of people who voted without any sense of humour whatsoever. It was all done by PM, email, and through facebook. I have no idea if our argument on the C&C thread was the reason for him getting banned - though I wouldn't be surprised as he lied through his teeth, and insulted me in a language I don't understand (German) - but at least I say everything I have to say to him to his face, or anyone else on here. He prefers to work behind the scenes, manipulate people, slander people and try to work up support whenever he gets into an argument on here. Pathetic.

He tries to befriend any new members, than as soon as possible he will try to get their facebook details. Once that's done, he mass mails people on facebook asking them to come here and support him when he's being criticized. (He did this to me once when I was critical of him, and I have proof from people unlucky enough to be on his facebook contacts). That pretty much sums up this creepy individual, if you add in 'I will then orchestrate a campaign against you via PM and through facebook').

What are you reading right now?
I'm going through the Narnia series for the first time since my early teens. They are pretty badly dated, and I see now the Christian basis I was oblivious to before, but they are very readable, and imho the scale of imagination was never bested until His Dark Materials (which I now regard as a deeply depressing and anti-spiritual series, amazing fiction though it is).

Rolling Stone's Albums Of The Decade
I quite agree, but technically that is the case. We have a mix-up here between (for example) 'songs of the 80s' (which is not strictly a decade) and 'songs of the decade' (and in this case Rolling Stone is wrong - quelle surprise!)
-
Rolling Stone's Albums Of The Decade
Eh? 2010 is the tenth year of the decade. In our system of counting the first year of the first decade AD was 1 AD, so a decade is ***1 to **10.
-
Rolling Stone's Albums Of The Decade
AFAIK 2010 is the tenth year of the decade, meaning that 2001 was the first (hence the 1 at the end) but each to their own and all that :)

The official Chavi and Carla and friends off topic thread
Hello guys, hey Lore :nice: I hope you are all well :) Just popping in before I go to bed. I would like to apologise for my part in 'the fight' on this thread just a day or so ago. I was unfairly provoked, but I should have taken that to Ian straight away rather than retaliating. Anyway, goodnight!! :)

Jonny Sticks Up The V's, Guy Doesn't Want To Go On First - Coldplay Backstage AND Chris Martin's Lin
Money =/= class. Thank goodness or Victoria Beckham would be near Royalty!! The Coldplay boys are all most definitely middle class (most of them 'upper' middle class if anyone still cares about these definitions).

Jonny Sticks Up The V's, Guy Doesn't Want To Go On First - Coldplay Backstage AND Chris Martin's Lin
They'll be on for about an hour I expect.

Rolling Stone's Albums Of The Decade
Parachutes was this decade? :o Other than that not too bad a list. The usual Radiohead and U2 bias taken into consideration.

YOU FUCKING LIAR I think we need Ian in here to stop this, and I am so sorry Ian as I know you have little Samuel to look after, but this guy just lies, and lies, and lies
