How many siblings do you have?
i always really wanted a twin, preferably identical. i think having a twin sister would be cool to share clothes and girly things with, but a twin brother would also be really cool. for a while i wanted to have twins when i grow up, but i'm back on the track of refusing to have more than one :P

What is making you smile/laugh?
i will die of happiness if a movie got made, but something tells me that it won't happen. they'd have to get everyone to agree to do it, because it would be crap otherwise, and since it got cancelled anyway, i wonder how many producers and studios would be that willing to do it. still, there's always hope. i haven't seen it in ages, though, i guess really since it got cancelled. add that to the list of shows that i need to buy on DVD one day. i miss GOB especially. he was always my favorite.

The "Show Off Your New Flashy Signature" Thread
:shy: i just finished making this one to express my deep love for sigur ros these days. (ok, random Q: is there any fast way for typing characters with accents, like the o in sigur ros, without holding down alt and typing in that code? i feel there's some faster, easier way that i'm ignorant to...)

How many siblings do you have?
yeah, my teachers and friends were more parents and siblings than my actual parents and siblings were. i guess that's what you get when you have the SAME friends and teachers for 13 years, but hey, i loved it :D

How many siblings do you have?
i have one brother, three years younger. for the vast majority of those 15 years, we hated each other, but in the last two its been better, and i actually enjoy his company more often than not. he's absolutely hilarious, though vulgar. however, i was essentially brought up more communally, since i went to a small school that ate up all my time and my entire life between the ages of four and eighteen. it feels like i have (or had) 38 brothers and sisters, and i spent more time at my school than with my parents and brother. not that that really counts, but it might explain why i have grown to be almost excessively independent: because i so had to value my alone time growing up.

Sigur Rós
i ordered ( ) on amazon a few days ago because i can't find it in shops. i really can't wait for it to come. also, i just found this live version of hoppipolla on youtube, and it completely made me shiver. it was almost like it was an entirely new song to me, for some reason: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNVVX-m-oSw

Fashion etc.
ok, so i'm a bad person :bigcry: i went outlet shopping today, with it in mind that i wasn't allowed to spend more than $50, and...well, let's just say i went over that :freak: i did get my first blazer, though, on sale from gap. i don't feel so bad about that because i don't have any blazers, and this one was rather nice. but i do feel bad about the other things :P i got a tshirt from j crew that has a map of england on it. i kind of had to get it, because its england, and a tshirt, and it even has the city i'll be living in next year on it. i didn't need it, no, but it was so perfect... i didn't need another fashion scarf, either, but i got a blue one from american eagle. but i REALLY didn't need another purse, especially not a black one, yet i got one from coach. i really can't help myself in that store  i'll post photos of this spree later. however, THESE two photos are from last weekend's shopping adventure that i couldn't post because of imageshack's bad mood: close up of the purse i got last weekend: i am only allowing myself to buy a coldplay tshirt and program at the concert until december now. oh, i have no restraint.

Some More Saturday's Random Pollness
i think for me, it would have to be taken on a case-by-case basis, particularly on the situation.

Could "Strawberry Swing" be THE Coldplay song that STANDS THE TEST OF TIME?
this is rocketed into my top 5 coldplay songs upon first hearing it, and it hasn't left. i don't think it ever will. in my opinion, its one of the best things they've ever released. however, i think that clocks will forever be the most timeless, most instantly recognizable, most signature coldplay song, at least in america.

What is making you smile/laugh?
arrested development was god. why the HELL did it ever get cancelled? today i remembered a thing my high school history teacher used to do and i was literally cracking up on my bed for a minute or two. our classrooms in my school were very small, and the teacher's desk was right up against the first row of student desks. in warmer weather, girls used to take off their sandals under their desks, and SOMEHOW my teacher would manage to steal them and get them up on top of the blackboard, where the projector screen or maps roll down. no one ever caught him in the act, but i can't tell you how many times, i put my foot down on the floor after class and there was only one shoe there, and snapped my eyes to the top of the whiteboard and there was my shoe :laugh4:. we all thought it was a riot.

What sports did you play as a kid?
my school forces its highschoolers to do at least one season of a team sport for three out of your four years in the upper school. alas, i was subjected to two and a half hours of volleyball 6 days a week. i hated it more than you know. i had nothing against the sport, and i actually had a killer serve, but i'm one of the least competitive people on this planet, and the coaches insisted on running practices like it was three days before the olympics. it was complete misery. i'm as unathletic as they come. the only things i have any slight success in are bowling and hockey, when i don't play aganst my brothers or my dad. hockey's in my blood, i guess, but i still massively suck.

Coldplay and your family!
my mom liked them years before i did, used to play AROBTTH nonstop in the car while i listened to the beatles on headphones with my discman :dozey:. she really tried to get me to really listen to it, too, and i was always like "yeah, some other time." so, by the time i became rabidly obsessed in 2005, we already had the albums lying around the house! my brother always hated them, up till this year when he must have been struck by lightning and suddenly started listening to good music. he started off by asking for me to send him random songs over AIM, and then one day this year he just came into my room and said "fuck it, i need all the albums" in this sheepish, defeated way. he gradually listened to them more and more until i brought him to the today show with me this june and developed a man-crush on guy and fell in love with it all, so now he's really into them. my dad isn't really much of a music guy. back in 2003, before i even liked coldplay, his sister (my aunt, who really is a big coldplay fan) gave him AROBTTH. i dont know if he ever listened to it, but he can recognize "clocks" and thinks it's a "lovely song." he's just pretty indifferent, i think.

Google Themes inc Radiohead
great, so now i have to decide between radiohead and coldplay  very pretty, though :D

Fashion etc.
*sigh* yes, completely. what's more is that i never actually see a pair of boots in real life that i like enough to buy; there's always something about them that's not right to me. i'm really picky in this area, so i have a hard enough time coming across ones i like, let alone having enough money for them. i might be going outlet shopping this weekend, though, so i'll have a look around. i'm not that hopeful, however.

Fashion etc.
i'm in desperate need of boots too. i found ones i like (a few pages back in this thread), but they're quite expensive, and my birthday has been taken up by getting my camera repaired for a small fortune and going to see coldplay. the problem is, i'm really picky about boots. i need them to be flat, round-toed, comfortable as hell, sturdy, and as tall as they can get, yet still so i can zip them up over fat legs. the ones i found are completely perfect, yet i don't have $200 spare lying around these days.

Gwyneth...
that is SO adorable :nice: i hope moses kicks some ass most of the time and gets the coldplay tunes played :P

What's your least favourite thing about this board?
i have to say that i don't mind the birthday threads, but the ones about postcounts bother me. mentioning "whee, 1000th post!" within a post is fine with me, but an entire thread about it? first of all, it doesn't matter how many posts you have (i just like round numbers, so thats why i'd mention it within a post :P), and second of all, you know a few people are just going to say congrats in it and then the thread is going to die and go to the never-seen back pages of the lounge where it'll be completely irrelevant in a few posts anyway. i think the lounge is a place to be a bit random and silly, which is why i usually enjoy coming to it. sometimes, the most random and craziest threads turn out to be the most fun, and i like that there aren't restrictions on the sorts of threads we can start. however, sometimes i wish people would think a bit more before making a thread about postcount or something that's just shameless self-promotion (other-people promotion is wonderful, though :D). i also don't think there's any way to really stop people having mini conversations within threads. if they run on for pages and pages, yeah, that's annoying, but back and forth posting...that happens everywhere, and i think it just shows how nice this place is that you can form good friends without ever having met the person. other people can join in the conversation too, which makes it better. really, when its out of friendliness, i don't mind. but the little argument that happened here, this is pretty much what i'm talking about. at least this one was moderately constructive, but really, it's more personal than anything and should be taken to another venue, like PMs or IMs. and the thing i like about online conversations is that if you get too fed up, you can just walk away and not have to confront it again. i wish more people would do that, or at least "take it outside."
