  1. iron man 9/10. absolutely AMAZING. best movie i've seen in theaters in 2008 after atonement. also saw indiana jones, which was cool and pretty good, but the writing and plotline were horribly embarrassing. 6.5/10.
  2. ahh, it'll most likely be around somewhere. i doubt it'll be too hard to find after june 12 :D i'm personally not expecting a leak, really, until june 11 at the earliest.
  3. while i'm pretty much wetting myself waiting for this album, i'm almost more patient than i've ever been. of course, it comes in waves, but the leaks/singles really tend to quell my biggest senses of curiosity. with those samples, i can be slightly more paitient for the rest. and it's really not that much longer at all, either! it's something like 2.5 weeks left. just remember what chris says in "lovers in japan" (or whatever the hell that song we just got is): just be patient, don't worry. :D (at the same time, i totally feel your pain :P)
  4. ooooh! i just replaced my crappy pixelly one :nice: thanks for these!
  5. i don't really know how to do that  i can't even get the MP3s on my phone the right way, let alone make them my ringtone. i'm holding out for them to make a real ringtone for my carrier :P
  6. i was hanging out with my friends yesterday, and in the middle of it all, my friend's blackberry rang. and GUESS what her ringtone was?! VIVA LA VIDA! you could have knocked me over with a feather. i can't wait for it to become a ringtone on verizon! :D
  7. ^i completely understand this, but as a rabid fan, there's no way of me resisting. in their postition, i would feel the same way, but as it stands, some of my favorite coldplay songs are ones that haven't been officially released. i can't pass up the chance of listening to every coldplay song out there because it just might be my favorite one ever. a perfect example for me is "ladder to the sun." and even though the band might not want them to be released or anything like that, i don't think it's disrespectful or whatever to listen to them. of course, this whole argument just boils down to what you like to do best. for some people, leaks spoil the album. for me, leaks make me more excited and more in love with the thing. it's no use lumping all leak-listeners and all non-leak-listeners into categories :D
  8. i have to say, i'm at the point where i don't mind if it doesn't leak. it's what, 19 days away? i can wait that long, definitely. as much as i want it, i would have rather it leaked a month ago, even though that's barely possible. ...not saying i'll pass up a leak, though ;)
  9. i have to say that i really disagree. i might even go so far to say that the BEST coldplay fans download the leaks (as long as they go out and buy the CD and tour tickets if they can), because it shows that we are most excited for the new stuff and the most in love with what they produce. us diehards aren't shorting coldplay out of money because we're going to buy the real thing anyway, so as long as we WANT to hear, i don't think there's any harm in it whatsoever. besides, i don't mind shorting EMI out of much these days. i personally don't think there's anything special about june 12 or june 17 or whenever you're going to get the album, so if the entire thing leaks before then, i have to say that i don't really understand why you wouldn't listen, as long as you buy the real thing later and/or donate what you would have spent on it to a charity. i also have to disagree here. i think hearing a bad-quality version or a non-album version of a track heightens the surprise of the album track. i am now more excited for "lovers in japan" than ever because i can't wait to hear how the "real" track sounds. it's like a sample before the real thing. and it makes the track sound even more amazing when you hear it how it was meant to sound.
  10. i think the best way to post a picture is to upload it to a site like imageshack. then you right-click on the full-size picture you uploaded, select properties, and copy the URL there. then you come here and paste the URL between two image tags so it looks like this: or, you could just go to "POST REPLY" in the bottom left corner of each thread (opposite the page numbers) and then click the paperclip icon to upload pictures from your PC ;)
  11. he's not serious, he's trying to rile us up. and i think as long as we keep commenting on it etc etc, he's succeeding. which is why i said :lock: in the first place. ignoring FTW.
  12. i don't really count juno and rex as "normalish" :laugh4: but they're definitely more normal than apple and moses, i have to say. i kind of want chris and gwyneth to have another baby just to see what they name it. even though do like the names apple and moses, i feel a bit bad that celebrity kids are double-branded: by their parents and by their unusual names that prevents them from ever hiding behind them. anyway. i love the names juno and rex!
  13. when your brother is on the way to becoming a coldplay-nut too simply because you insisted upon sending him the new songs...and now he listens to them all the time and is coming to the today show with me. looks like obessive coldplay disorder is contagious...:P
  14. thanks for posting! i find that the written review doesn't match up with the number of stars given...that written review sounds like a 4-5 star album to me. anyway, i don't think we should take too much stock in what the critics have to say anyway. i'm more interested in what they say about the music itself rather than what they think about it. like the lyric "it's such a perfect day, i wouldn't want to change a thing"...that's the kind of information i glean out of these reviews. i LOVE that lyric! :nice:
  15. aww, twins!! :baby: :baby: juno and rex! sooo adorable :nice: congrats, will and marianne! heh, on the same day we got "viva la vida"! bit of a celebration, eh? :P
  16. $35?!?! that's ridiculous. here they're between $10 and $20 for a single CD. i bought all these because there was a GREAT sale at borders, and all 6 cost me about $40 total. erm, no new CDs for me, but last night i downloaded about 12 random tracks off my favorite movie soundtracks. i have a huge thing for original scores :nice:
  17. mostly CDs (whether they're ones i've bought myself or borrowed from friends), then itunes. free downloading just makes me feel bad and guilty, so i never do it unless it's something i couldn't get officially anyway, like live bootlegs or unreleased tracks. i also have a couple albums that my friends have sent to me online because they really think i should listen to it. i know this is just the same as illegal downloading, but 1) i only have max 6 albums downloaded this way, and 2) somehow it feels slightly different when i get it from a friend rather than an impersonal P2P site. that's complete rubbish, but i don't feel as bad about it. i'm very much for legal means of getting music. i've never touched limewire or the like in my life, and only sendspace/rapidshare/etc when its something i can't physically get anywhere else.
  18. yeah, and having someone else besides just chris talk too. i wonder if they've ever said a word to the audience before? i just think it would be nicer and more personal all around. i don't think their concerts are crappy by ANY stretch of the imagination, but there's just some small something that i can't put my finger on that i wish they'd change. everything they do and everything in the show is almost...too planned. i liked it when they messed up etc, because it was a break from the formula. and at the second concert i went to, they actually made this one girl from the front row sit on guy's beanbag ONSTAGE because she wouldn't get off her cellphone. chris thought it was hilarious, and so did i. it's that sort of thing that i wish they'd do more of...the hilarious unexpected.
  19. in all seriousness, i'd love them to play longer setlists that vary more from night to night and aren't so calculated. i want them to mix things up a bit more, and talk to the audience more rather than just the same things that they say every night. in a dream world...hmm. that they would meet every single member of the audience personally every night! :P
  20. :dead: this is SO awesome! i would absolutely DIE if i got the chance to do this. thanks so much for sharing, really :D. you definitely told the right people!
  21. i forgot my BIGGEST idol in my list last night! TINA FEY. she's what i want to be in 10 years or so exactly, minus the acting part. acutally, her character liz lemon on 30 rock, (who she based on herself), is who i want to be. i'm shockingly like her personality-wise already, and she has my dream job...she even LOOKS like me. tina fey it is. add cate blanchette to my movie list too :D
  22. so cool, thalia!! :nice: nice to see that you've caught on to my phrase, melanie! :laugh4:
  23. i think even reviewers were caught up in it all upon first listen, just as we all were. i was absolutely in love with the album from june to about november, when "the shine wore off" and i realized that it wasn't nearly as good as their previous two efforts. i'm hoping VLVOD won't be the same way, for me or for the critics. so far, though...i think this one will be different in that sense :D.
  24. "I don't think you can try to be the best band in the world without having a song that's a number." haha, that's so chris! :D thanks for posting! i might have to pick this up, especially if that picture is in there!
