yes, i was very against this thread when it was first made, because it was made BEFORE violet hill came out. but now... i very much agree with the first post. this thread IS very refreshing. i really don't want to hear another WORD about violet hill.

actually, i absolutely hate clocks. it's great live but i just think the studio version is so boring. and i would also like to defend fix you... because it was being really bashed a few pages back. you were all saying the lyrics were too much 'i love you gwynne' but why do you even think of that when you listen to a song? you should think of how it relates to yourself not the singer. and all opinions on music are OPINIONS. you cant just say FIX YOU IS CRAP. you can say you dont like it, but all music is up for personal interpretation so to say it like your stating a fact is wrong and annoying. i dont like clocks, but i dont think its a bad song. i totally see why other people like it, it just doesn't quite do it for me.

nononoooo radio here DOES SUCK. i agree with saffire. theres maybe 1 or 2 dece stations (apparently WFNX is one of these) but really most of them are complete shit. if you want to puke just turn to Kiss 108 here in MA.

idk about you guys but im really not a big fan of albert's solo work... i think the strokes together as a band are a ton better and i want them to start playing together again! albert's stuff is quality just not as driving/pumpup/inyourface/fun as the strokes stuff.

is life in technicolor just instrumental or does chris sing in it? also, do life in technicolor and DAAHF have the same exact melody... i dont get how they are like... the same song or w/e.

seriously it's so nice to see someone who doesn't like violet hill but isn't non-stop complaining about it.

speed of sound was the worst first single. i never really caught onto that song... and i dont really think the first single for parachutes should count just because they didnt have much of a fan base and it's not like tons of people were waiting and waiting for new coldplay and then that was the FIRST thing anyone heard. i cant really explain myself idk...

this thread actually ISNT about violet hill... weird right? so maybe everyone could stop talking about it UNLESS it relates to this clip... but about the U2 comparisons... people make them because U2 was around long before coldplay. and yes, U2 sound like themselves, coldplay sound like themselves also, but this certain clip just draws comparisons to the sound of U2. coldplay has their own distinct sound and i agree they have evolved into a different sound but on this PARTICULAR song it is a bit similar to U2... i'm really not a fan of comparing one bands sound to another either but i just really hear it on this one. i'm thinking we should wait for the whole song till we really make assumptions like this anyway... haha im completely contradicting myself now so i'm gunna stop.

after a few more listens... IT'S SOOO U2ish! haha this is weird but i can tell my mom will love this song.....

i bet eventually chris will be playing on some show by himself and he'll play a piano version of violet hill. kind of like with yellow. i think it would be nice

sounds really good! different but good! i'm actually really excited for it now. the beginning part weirdly reminds me of secret garden by bruce springsteen... kinda weird but it does. can't waittt.

i have one that says "lord lead me not into temptation" does one of the songs have the our father for lyrics? weird... EDIT: just saw the post above me. the last word is tempation. it's not cut off on mine.

seriously if people keep comparing this song and coldplay music to completely SHITTY bands, i'm not gunna come to this site anymore. it's absolutely disgusting. coldplay and gym class heroes are in no way whatsoever on the same level. there is no comparison to be made. i seriously am on the verge of puking. and like... i know i sound rude and we were just talking about how things are getting out of hand in that other thread... but this is one thing i can't keep my mouth shut about. i think when the whole album comes out im just not going to read any threads with opinions because seeing these comparisons seriously makes me feel sick. (not even just using the expression)

agreed about the variety. i picture this being more acoustic or something. idk. obviously its dumb to guess how a song will sound based on title but its just such a strange name. haha it would be funny if it ended up being a piano ballad after each of us saying that it won't be

yea i mean im pretty much a noob as well but... im really fed up with all the new threads made by people who havejust joined like... this week. it hurts my head trying to sort through them all! i waited for this day for so long but for some reason theres just been like... a bad vibe on here all day. idk it's weird.

hmm i was thinking... since the violet hill download is only gunna be up for a week... do you think we'll get a whole new website next tuesday? because they arent gunna leave up that section for violet hill if you cant even download it anymore... just a thought..

yea i know what you mean. i have no idea what to expect. it's just not a coldplay-like title at all...
