  1. how the hell was it controversial!! it was as blatant as you get it! anyways. is any network getting martin tyler's commentary of the fa cup final. just doesn't feel right without his voice accompanying the match.
  2. anyone watch Later With Jools last night? this is what they played Library Pictures Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala Reckless Serenade all on youtube. go find it yourself :P
  3. and there's a band i hope does big things through 2010-2020. probably one of the best live bands going around. quality epitomised.
  4. but both have long lost their alternative tags. if anything both seem to be largely despised by the alternative music community. i like my method of the two groups :smug:
  5. tips for FA cup final? i'm saying 3-1 to Stoke.
  6. 2000-2010? i think you can divide them into two groups. bands who made groundbreaking interesting music and those were really successful. First group - Arcade Fire, The White Stripes, Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, Gorillaz, Sigur Ros, The National and Sufjan Stevens Second group - Coldplay, Muse, Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, The Killers, Snow Patrol and Green Day. i would like Arctic Monkeys to be remembered for many years to come but they seem to be on the nose a little after their last album. 2010-2020? well hardly 18 months in thats very hard to predict. i think Arcade Fire will continue to thrive and Mumford & Sons have a very bright future ahead as does Florence and the Machine. the 00s were a pretty unsuccessful period for aussie bands so i hope the ones doing well now continue to do so, like Temper Trap and Tame Impala.
  7. arhghghghghghghgghhhhhhh just re-unite already!!
  8. so we have a couple more songs now. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVErSWseFfI]YouTube - Death Cab For Cutie's "Home Is A Fire," video by Shepard Fairey and Nicholas Harmer[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKYBMc5xzbo]YouTube - Death Cab for Cutie - Underneath The Sycamore[/ame] i love both songs much much more than You Are A Tourist.
  9. petrol here is on average $1.50/litre and it fluctuates through the week. on what basis do they fluctuate? no idea. it used to go up on the weekends and down midweek. i don't mind public transport around sydney because i have a student concession pass that halves my costs. otherwise a train to the city would set me back about $8 each way. if i drive the 35km instead it will take a little under an hour and cost me about the same in petrol or I could half my travel time and take the motorway and pay $10 in tolls. but the general cost of living here is very high but i guess that's the price you pay for living in a city as good as this.
  10. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5DoY67B9wY]YouTube - Arctic Monkeys - A Certain Romance[/ame] Why? I just love the way all of the parts come together. Particularly the way in which the lead and rhythm guitars sort of dance around each other and the bass has a life of its own but provides the driving force behind the song. The drumming is understated but very effective. Then the song really comes to life just before the 4 minute mark then a minute it comes back down to earth and you have one of the best endings to an album i have ever heard. On top of that the lyrics are just spot on. i think the boys were hardly 18 or 19 when they wrote this. oh yeah and every single freken song James Murphy has ever written!
  11. don't feel too bad lol. i've only just become a fan in the past month. Some People Have Real Problems is an amazing album!
  12. OH MAH GAWD! did anyone watch Angry Boys tonight??!?? this might just be chris lilley's best work. only Gran, Dan and Nathan unveiled so far. i think the best is still to come!
