  1. Anyone know what this is all about? Also someone said something about an intimate gig in Glasgow??
  2. Fun! That song reminds me a lot of L'Femme d'Argent by Air on Moon Safari, cited as one of the key albums that brought the boys together.
  3. Wow great versions of both! I do quite wish Chris would play piano on AOAL every night. You can really hear Will singing on Up&Up here which is nice too. Thanks for sharing. :) Also FYI to others - the videos are in the article but don't have a hand-symbol when you hover over them...you just click on the pictures and suddenly boom video!
  4. I've not had a detailed look at it but I have a strong feeling the tuning is EADGBd because the song is in key of G. Hope that gets you started!
  5. It's a shame they've only played GPASUYF once (I think?) this tour - the new remix is very interesting. :)
  6. I noticed that Guy played keyboard on See You Soon at Barcelona, much like the album version of the song. Which makes me think Careful Where You Stand could be a possibility if someone requests it. :)
  7. Wow what an interesting semi-acoustic version of LIJ! The way the drums abruptly stop in the middle of the song was a bit weird though (in the album version it keeps on going). Also for anyone wondering, there's no backing track here - Will is playing an electronic kick drum using his foot. Here's a video I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQPotEKFSX8 Mobile Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQPotEKFSX8
  8. There was a snapchat of Jonny playing Shiver so maybe we'll hear that tonight!
  9. Well I was going to FIRST the hell out of this but someone else already said it was Army of One. In any case I was going to say the photo here indicates it's Army of One because you can see Will laying drumpad AND Guy playing synth/drum-pad.
  10. What will we hear on the cajon tonight? Ink? Don't Panic? Something else? :)
  11. Holy crap that's exciting!!!!! And I bet 2016 Jonny will play a DIRTY AS HELL solo for this. :D
  12. I've wondered the same, and it makes me sad that it's only at the end where the guitar starts getting louder. A live version is in order!
  13. Agreed but I think it would all be solved if Chris just stayed on the piano the whole time to actually play the piano parts, and if Will sang the "shoot across the sky" bit (instead of that being Chris layered on other Chris's/Beyonce backing track).
  14. Glad to see that they got to perform the full version of Up&Up! Though I kind of got the sense that Chris thought Jonny was making too many mistakes and started singing the guitar solos.
  15. It's so hard to rate since Coldplay hasn't really done a video like this since perhaps Don't Panic, which is also kind of surreal. But I'd rank them like this: 1. Strawberry Swing 2. Tie between Up&Up and the Scientist 3. Paradise 4. Life in Technicolor ii and the rest :p
  16. LOVED this video. Also interesting to note - the music video actually uses a different, and in my opinion, SUPERIOR edit of the song. If you compare what was released on Spotify vs what's the in the video.... -No funky silence at about 1:25 in the music video, where in the Spotify radio edit, there is a silence after playing 1 bar. Way jarring in the Spotify version....flows nicely in the music video. -At about 3:45, you don't hear the 2nd guitar solo starting as you can hear in the Spotify edit. They also layered the "ooooh's" into the music videos' final chorus, which is a nice touch! WHY DIDN'T THEY RELEASE THIS EDIT?!?!?!?!
  17. Haha you're too kind. I happen to obsess like mad over this backing tracks thing. Also I should qualify my previous post that it's entirely possible that Jonny and Guy's drumming are just miming and not actually leading to any sound. But I'm fairly sure Chris's piano playing on HFTW does amount to something because you can hear him play some wrong notes performance to performance. Most of what I said actually derives from what is more easily visible in these two performances of HFTW where they didn't use Beyonce backing tracks (except for possibly at the end). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1noL7XYPhs Mobile Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1noL7XYPhs
  18. I was totally joking about the lip syncing...it's just a reference to the other thread about Chris possibly lip syncing on Clocks. It's 9000% obvious this performance is totally live.
  19. Are you sure ^that isn't due to the camera audio being weird and bass heavy? I do think Will is doing the most work vocally on that song, esp during the choruses. But I don't think Chris is just pretending to sing into a muted mic or something. Also Guy is playing the tinkly percussion part, not piano. The piano is just on a backing track, but on some performances Chris plays the piano and overrides the backing track.
  20. The loop pedal for the acoustic guitar on Clocks is cool and also hilarious. :D Also did anyone else notice Chris lip syncing on Clocks it sounds just like all the other recent performances vocally... :p
  21. I feel like in several instances the album version lead guitar parts are just liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit quieter than they should be. I guess their artistic ear wanted to prioritize other things but................................ (though to correct my earlier statement, Jonny does not play guitar in the intro of Army of One as he does in the live version - cool intro!) -A couple of the guitar bits in AHFOD, such as the part that matches the vocal part on "a head full of dreams" -Guitar parts in HFTW -The guitar parts in Everglow -Guitar parts in Army of One (especially the chorus)
  22. Wow I just relistened to the album version and have now noticed all the guitar parts from the live version. I guarantee you they are all there. They just very...very...VERY quiet.
  23. Amazing! I would love to see this for the whole album, GS-style.
  24. It might be Will's, but I've always assumed it was Chris's voice run through a vocoder. As in, the same voice effect in Midnight, but not as heavy.
  25. By remembering what other people say. :) The only one I really picked up on myself was the Gandhi quote. :p I'm sure lots of other lyrics are good but I still can't hear them.
