  1. Okay I'm going to be a giant troll and post some Coldplay but.... 3:07 - 3:33, Jonny magic. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb_7C1vMpRQ]AROBTTH[/ame] 4:00, further Jonny magic. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vwf5iRBbilM&feature=related]Amsterdam[/ame] 3:00, last Jonny magic. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh9VCSEHygY]LIJ[/ame]
  2. I think it's most likely because they haven't nailed the specifics of how they want to perform the song for two main reasons that I can think of - 1. Chris might not yet be confident with his vocals. You guys know how Coldplay can be so perfectionist and self-critical. Maybe Chris doesn't know all the words yet for all we know (or hasn't written them :p). 2. They might not have agreed on what Jonny will do. He seems to be switching, a little randomly, between acoustic guitar and synthesizer. Maybe he's thinking about playing electric guitar on the song too but hasn't got that 100% ready to go. Part of why I thought of this is that if you watch the Gothenburg performance of Major Minus, Jonny switches up the way he plays the interlude harmonics - he makes the rhythm a lot more complicated (like the drums/acoustic guitar strum rhythm) which suggests to me that all of these songs remain works in progress. Which is okay, because they'll all sound really good live and on album. :)
  3. I like how many times Jonny switches instruments on this song. :D
  4. On the strings thing, just don't leave the strings off for weeks on end. It's probably okay if you leave them off for a week...it takes time for the damage to happen. Good luck, and let's see pics!
  5. OH YOU'RE RIGHT. :O :embarrassed: :) This video helps a lot... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_2wQPW9YUs]YouTube - ‪Coldplay - Charlie Brown - Live @ "Where The Action Is" in Gothenburg, Sweden - 28 June 2011 (HD)‬‏[/ame] I just got super-mislead because he's still playing barre chords, which isn't something I'd expect when tuned down a half step. Actually his barre chords look weird. Meh. And it appears that Chris skips the short Eb chord (the one that the Champion put in parentheses) even though it's clearly there in the bass. So then it's something like this... Gm - 466444 Eb - 12,14,14,000, 022100 in the choruses Bb - 799877 F - 24432x Dm - 11,13,13,11,11,11
  6. I like how this thread shows the glaring deficiencies in lyrical consistency among the new songs. :p
  7. Epic post. :) I was going to make something similar, so I'll throw in one more thing - live, the band has sounded better than ever. From the old hits to the new yet-to-be-hits, they've really kept things fresh in the setlists and in the way they perform songs. :D
  8. Yay! ARE YOU A LOST and/or OASIS FAN? :)

Strawberry Swing, Life in Technicolour ii and Glass of Water please! Are we referring to VLV as "old" now? :p

^Agreed; Speed of Sound is most likely though since it was the biggest X&Y hit. I'd love to hear ANY of those though. Or X&Y (the track). OR SWALLOWED IN THE SEA. Okay anything on X&Y would be great. Sorry, X&Y fanboy passing through. Agree with everyone on such tracks as AROBTTH, Amsterdam. :)
  11. NOW I KNOW SOME OF THE LYRICS. Thank you. It's very fairy-talish, I feel like the finished result will resemble something from Under the Iron Sea by Keane, in a good way. :)
  12. Meh, agreed Major Love. :/ I kind of think a lot of the synth melody would sound better as Jonny playing it on the guitar, but whatever. As much skepticism I have right now, it's much overwhelmed by how much I love this song, and I don't even know a single lyric yet! The sad thing is I've spent all day singing this song's melody with the words of the Bad Boys theme. Bad boys bad boys, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you.... :embarrassed: Seriously though, POC is catchy as hell and I've only heard it like three times.
  13. Actually, I'm ever so skeptical that we'll all hate the album version for having too much synth. :embarrassed: That higherish quality version was great though pansonic, thanks!
  14. THIS. That's one of my favourite moments in any song. It melts my heart. UATW is just.... :smug: Through chaos as it swirls, it's us against the world. <(^__^<) YEAH! Both HLH and Charlie Brown have spotlessly great lyrics now that I hear them all. I stole a key, I took a car downtown, To where the lost boys meet, I took what they offered me, To set me free. (>^__^)>
  15. Of course, I meant nothing bad about Him, just thought it was funny. Fun story: I'm trying to get the girl I like to cover UATW with me in the role of Will.
  16. Wooooooooow the first video doesn't work for me because of some kind of copyright problem. -_____________- Major Minus sounds really good though! :D
  17. That...looks pretty good splintercell. I have to apologize...I've left my guitar in UATW tuning because I love the song so much and want to play it all day and night to the point that I can't put my guitar back in standard or anything else for a week or two. That said, here's my take on Major Minus in standard because I have that memorized...perhaps it can help you with figuring out the chords in the alternate tuning(s) because all of these chords have roughly the correct hand position on the neck. Em7 - 0,10,12,0,0,0 Em - 079000 Bm7 - 797777 / 79977x Bm7 - 79978x or 79900x C - x32010 Asus4 - 577700 Chorus Em = 0,14,14,14,00 to 0,14,14,12,00 to follow the "ooh ooh" melody. D = 10,12,12,11,10,0 Same Bm
  18. Wow! Great as always Champion. :) *bows down* Can we move to Mars together. Please?!
  19. I'm 80% sure it's in standard. :p
  20. There is a way to play it that's in standard, but my suspicion is that the tuning is [uATW - good guess, but I don't think so]...I think it's EADGBd (Trouble) or EGDGBd or EABGBd or EGBGBd. Basically, this song is heavy on the notes G and B. I want to say it's like Trouble because in the quiet interludes, Chris seems to be laying his finger across the 12th fret, as in, 0,12,12,12,12,12...which is suspiciously similar to how Jonny plays Trouble. A Bm6 is a Bm chord with a G in it, which in standard is 79978x or perhaps 79900x. WE WILL FIGURE THIS OUT.
  21. ^The Eb is definitely there, it's just only played for 2 beats where the parentheses are. Listen to the bassline and you'll hear it. The Champion's thing is correct, except the All the Boys section goes: F - Eb - Bb x2 F - Dm - Eb I believe Chris is playing barre chords in standard tuning, so: Bb - 688766 Gm - 355333 or Gm7 - 353333 Eb - 11,13,13,12,11,11 F - 133211 Dm - 10,12,12,10,10,10
  22. It's not too hard to hear if you listen to HillmanTV's video. Still shite quality, but it's enough to tell that it's going to be a really epic song. :sneaky:
  23. Good post; I'd even argue UATW is the album title, especially given the pattern in the past for the title track to be a fairly obscure song, well except for VLV obviously. But yeah, I agree with your post completely. And this is a direction I can agree with. :) It also makes ETIAW have just a little context.
  24. I could've sworn he said "rainbook." But RAINBOW MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE. Maybe he was thinking about the legalization of gay marriage in New York state! :) Great performance though. This song is just. <3
