  1. ^ Unfortunately.
  2. Viva > MX on an all-around perspective, in my opinion. Viva is pretty solid in the quality of its songs, but MX is kind of all over the place, with both great and horrible songs. :P Round 1: Life In Technicolor vs. Mylo Xyloto Round 2: Lovers In Japan vs. Hurts Like Heaven Round 3: Cemeteries Of London vs. Paradise Round 4: Violet Hill vs. Major Minus Round 5: Viva La Vida vs. Charlie Brown Round 6: Strawberry Swing vs. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall Round 7: Lost! vs. Princess Of China Round 8: 42 vs. Up In Flames Round 9: Yes vs. Us Against The World Round 10: Reign Of Love vs. U.F.O. Round 11: Chinesse Sleep Chant vs. Don't Let It Break Your Heart Round 12: The Escapist vs. A Hopeful Transmission Final Round: Death And All His Friends vs. Up With The Birds ---- Viva: 11 MX: 3
  3. ARoBttH = Viva > X&Y, Parachutes, MX
  4. I concur! But honestly, I think this is the majority of the problem with this album. Yes, studio versions are sometimes (drastically?) different from live versions*, but out of the seven odd songs that we heard, most of them sounded almost the same, or even worse, than they had live (i.e. Hurts Like Heaven sounded much better live; Charlie Brown was pretty much the same). And then there was the EP, which I'm not complaining terribly about because otherwise we never would have heard Moving to Mars, which gave us two more songs that were destined for the album. So all in all: Total Album Songs: 14 Instrumentals: 3 Songs Heard Live: 4 (MM, HLH, CB, UAtW) or 6 (including UIF and PoC if you listened to the low-quality recordings) Others Released Before Album: 2 (Paradise and ETiaW [which was also obviously played live]) So, depending on how many songs you listened to, you got either 3 or 5 new songs (not including instrumentals), which is enough for a respectable EP, but not a full-length album. *I realize that the guys were kind of between a rock and a hard place making that decision, but I just wish that they hadn't played so many songs. I think playing just CB, ETiaW, and HLH would have worked better.
  5. It really is an excellent song. Undoubtedly one of the best on the album . . . I would say the best, but it has DLIBYH, UWtB, and U.F.O. as competition :D But yeah, great song
  6. They do sound similar in several aspects  But: DLIBYH > Spanish Rain :P
  7. It depends on what person I would be recommending them to. If it were my squirrelly, pop-loving classmates then probably: Viva la Vida Clocks Lovers In Japan Lost! ETiaW Whereas if it were someone whose music tastes I didn't know much about: Clocks (This is one of those songs that is pretty universal and easy to like because it's so good) Viva la Vida (a pop-ish tune that retains decent lyrics and an amazing ending. Plus catchy as the common cold) Up With The Birds (for people who like quieter songs) Glass Of Water or Violet Hill (for those who like loud, boisterous, or just plain rocky songs) The Scientist or Yellow (again, two more songs that are easy to like because of their quality) ^ Plus, that shows off some of Coldplay's diversity in their scope of song styles.
  8. Hai guys :D Happy Halloween (Or Neewollah, if you live in a city about an hour away from where I live :laugh4:)
  9. This. This is why I love Coldplay.
  10. :freak: Gah, I don't know. Coldplay's ending tracks are always among the best of their respective albums . . . I guess it's a threeway tie between Amsterdam, Death And All His Friends / The Escapist, and Up With the Birds
  11. Welcome welcome :D And I agree with Regulus
  12. Glass Of Water = Chinese Sleep Chant = Don't Let It Break Your Heart
  13. ^ :awesome: We can hope. I'm still going to keep this thread bookmarked even if the mods lock it
  14. ^ Ah, that makes sense  We can say that we've been test-driving the new Ferrari server :wink3: (even though it isn't so new anymore and it withstood the madness of the MX leak, so . . .)
  15. ^ With b-sides, of course  I haven't been impressed with their choice of singles for this era, anyway, so I just want my b-sides now! :D EDIT: And the artwork. And the satisfaction of hearing something other than Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and LMFAO on the radio.
  16. And I quote from the 27th of July:
  17. WELL. *huff* :phu: That just proves that this thread is awesome
  18. Ohhhhhhhhhh :D Thanks, Taameen.
  19. Wait, wait, wait . . . who are Anna and Madison?! :surprised: lol, do you guys remember when it was just Taameen, Julia, and I in this thread? . . . 639 pages later and now we have like 15 people :P
  20. I would love to see a video for DLIBYH  And as long as the PoC video doesn't have Rihanna in it, I'm happy :D
  21. Plus a sprinkling of Chinese Sleep Chant
