  1. I was also brainwashed and completely blown away by A Rush in 2003 (I didn't really know about it before), I was 10 back then. My mum played it constantly and I loved it. It's still by far my favourite album of all time, any band. Two years later I was hyped by X&Y, until I was a little less into Coldplay. When VLV came, I thought it was a weird album, I didn't really like it at first. I discovered Parachutes as a full album and it immediately outranked X&Y and VLV. In 2009 I saw them at Werchter and I was simply blown away. Coldplay became more than ever my favourite band. I discovered everything about them, B-sides, live albums and stuff. About VLV, it took me dozens and dozens of listens to realise that it's (in my opinion) their 2nd best album. It's different, but original, no other band could make anything that comes close. It's alternative, yet it has mainstream success. It's varied, yet everything fits well together. You can't expect them to remake the first two albums over and over again. The fact that they change, and still maintain the core of what makes them Coldplay, makes them (one of) the best bands in the world. About ETIAW, yeah it's flat, it sucks, but I'm confident that LP5 will be great, and maybe combine the best things of VLV with the best things of the older albums (certainly if, fingers crossed, ETIAW won't be on it). You have to trust what they are doing, please.

No, I don't think we would sing about graffiti and street art itself. He said they would use graffiti slogans and such as an inspiration for their songs. I do agree with the rest of what you're saying.
  3. http://www.humo.be/tws/wedstrijden/werchter-ticketwedstrijd-overview.html?id=45603#upload Personally I think it's not the best upload, but it's rather funny because it's a West-Flemish in-joke, referring to Dieter Deleus in the show De Ronde. Thanks if you want to vote. :) And yeah, I really dig my avatar, I'm glad I found it
  4. Is this official merchandise? And do they also have shirts that don't have "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" on them?
  5. Indeed, and lol, I really meant to say Spies instead of Sparks, I still mess up those two titles all the time. But you can add Sparks to that list aswell, of course. :P That being said, I wonder if LP5 will feature such songs. I liked Cemeteries of London on VLV, but not as much as the tracks mentioned earlier.
  6. I'm going. Friday, for The National and Arctic Monkeys especially, and Saturday, for Coldplay of course. I'm going with some of my friends and maybe my brother, depends if he'll win a ticket, but seeing the chances, he probably won't. It's a contest by Humo. You have to make an original advertisement for Humo and the ones with most Facebook votes (100 in total) win a combi ticket. If anyone cares to help him win one by voting, I'll post the link to this page. I went to Werchter in 2009 combi with my friends, and it was amazing, especially Coldplay. They blew me away. And I've got a feeling that it's going to be even better now (shouldn't get my hopes up too high of course). See you all there, I'll be the one with the clothes and the hair... Well one of the 80 000. I didn't manage to get the front row last time, and I probably won't this time either, I'd want to, but I won't be alone to decide whether we'll wait in front of the Main Stage all day. And then there's the hunger/thirst/bathroom problem. Any suggestions?
  7. What she is trying to say (I think) is that critics put Coldplay in the same genre as Swedish House Mafia and other commercial dance acts that come to their right in night clubs. And she doesn't like that. Neither do I. Is this what you mean? If that's true, all you have to do is not to give a fuck about those critics.
  8. Because he will see them live I suppose? Me too by the way. For Coldplay, live is always so much better. Personally, I trust that the album will be good as a whole. I'm not a big fan of "big, huge hits". I like to listen to full albums, and not a single Coldplay album has disappointed me so far, quite the opposite. The singles they released and the big hits they had were almost never the best tracks on the album in my opinion. That's partly because I like moody songs that can give me goosebumps, like Sparks or AROBTTH.
  9. ^ It is. I may have liked it more if it wasn't a Coldplay song, so I wouldn't have had such great expectations. I don't mind hearing it on the radio, though I always think I wish they'd played a different Coldplay song instead. But yeah, it's their new song after all. But for now I feel like I'm getting tired of discussing this song, I'll just accept it the way it is.
  10. You can't, but you can have a vague idea at least.
  11. It's way different, and I actually seem to like it, though based on the low quality recording.
  12. I feel a bit sorry for having torn it apart. But I still don't like it, as a Coldplay song. Everyone can think about it whatever they want. Either everyone is right, or everyone is wrong, okay?

Indeed, no doubt. But as said earlier, EMI's debt seems a lot larger, something Coldplay can't make on their own.
  14. Time will tell. Personally I'd prefer the album without it. But I'm not going to cry or anything if it will be on it.
  15. Tryptophan replied to MrMagpie's topic in Major Minus
A great deal of the revenue from their tour went strait to the organisations and Coldplay themselves. EMI mainly earns money by selling records.
  16. They did it before, in Death and all his Friends and in Glass of Water, or am I wrong?
  17. ^I'm pretty sure he/she didn't. Here's my theory of everything. The album was meant to be released before summer, before their tour. As you all know it has been put off. However, Coldplay, or maybe more specific EMI, didn't want to miss the train of the summer hits and they wanted to promote their summer tour (although I doubt that there would be any show that wasn't sold out if they didn't release ETIAW). They released ETIAW to please the radio people (EMI wants to sell because they need cash) and to please the festival people (as it is a festival tour after all). I think later, maybe around the end of July, they will officially announce an album title, release date, and the first official single, which may be one they won't have played in their shows, so nobody will have heard it before and will be thrilled and psyched and all. The single will be released in the beginning August, the album a month later (Mere speculation). Whether ETIAW will be on it, no one (except them?) knows. I feel a bit sorry for burning ETIAW to the ground, for comparing listening to it to eating shit. One of the reasons I came here was because I wanted to vent my disappointment about ETIAW, and I'm glad Im not the only fan who doesn't like it at all (I still quite dislike it). I'm also afraid that when people ask me what kind of music I like and I say Coldplay, I will have to add that I don't like ETIAW. However many of their new songs they played proved that they can still do it, and I shouldn't have questioned their qualities or their intentions. Because here's the point: It's Coldplay after all. If Coldplay want to start a big party at a festival, they just do it. If they want to blow us away with straight rock or a beautiful ballad, they just do it. If they want to be number one in the hit lists with an experimental song, they just do it. If they want to release a fresh sounding, varied, rocking album that pleases everyone, they just do it.
  18. I know, and I am not saying ETIAW won't be on the album either. But Brick By Brick was released several months before their album, and it wasn't their official first single, because that was Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair.

Hm I'm not sure. Btw I think you spelled it right by the way :D

I like this too. Let's construct the lyrics by using parts that seem to reference the White Rose Movement, like this one. But I'm sure it's "so be careful" and not "sorta". That wouldn't make a lot of sense, would it.
  21. Tryptophan replied to Marcoldplayer's topic in Major Minus
You're welcome. Perhaps we'll have to wait for another performance so these findings can be confirmed.
  22. Jonny is one badass motherfucker, pardon my French. I've always known it. See all Chuck Norris memes, but replace Chuck Norris with Jonny "hero" Buckland.
  23. Tryptophan replied to Marcoldplayer's topic in Major Minus
^Nice This has White Rose Movement all over it.
  24. Tryptophan replied to MrMagpie's topic in Major Minus
That's another genius remark. I'd been wondering about this. :stunned: However, the guys seem to love it themselves... The way they played it at Rock am Ring... Is it all just set up? A piece opf comedy?
  25. I think you're right about it all, but this just means that it has a little Coldplay over it after all, and they're geniuses that can make the worst song slightly good. But it does not make up for everything else that makes this song awful.
