  1. Just as a point, Hurts Like Heaven is in B flat Major, and Paradise is in G Minor. Guess what? They're relative. The two songs flow together.
  2. It would've been more lucrative for both the band and the actress to get the actual Karen Gillan. But probably more expensive :/ And stop moaning about the video! At least it's not Chris walking somewhere!
  3. They're doing something different. They've been the band that "ooh" for ten years, now they want to be the band that stammer. Let them stammer, goddammit.
  4. I don't think they're trying to top Viva. That's the mistake they made on X&Y, they tried to make A Rush A Blood, but bigger, better and more U2. With MX, they're clearly stepping away from Viva. They worked with Kylie during the Viva sessions, let's not forget that. That was deemed "too sexy", so they'd have put it on if it was right, same as they'd have left Princess of China off MX if that wasn't right. At the end of the day, you can make all these direction comments about any band, but the bands who do well from changing their sound have the decent songs to back them up on every album. I believe the LP5 era has decent songs in Hurts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, Major Minus, Up Against The World, Every Teardrop and Paradise. We'll never get another Lovers In Japan... But why try and create a replica when the original's so brilliant?

I love both of them. I haven't voted as I can't choose between them. But as a rap vocal, I think Lost+ is superb. It's intelligent for one, got a message behind it, and the "See Martin" sort of makes it. The guitar solo's nothing special, but it's one of Jay-Z's best verses. I suppose if you're not into rap though, it's vile :P
  6. They'll probably tweak both songs slightly I'd say.. Similarly to how Kanye West altered songs on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. But I think to swap the ETIAW synth with piano is too drastic a change.
  7. Someone's already probably mentioned this, but if you check on Spotify, it lists Major Minus and Every Teardrop as having single and album versions. I thought those that hadn't seen would appreciate this, given the dislike of the vocal effects on MM.

I don't know if this is in the right place, but I wondered everyone's opinion on collaborations, in the light of the Rihanna thing. Just wondered which song people preferred and why. :)
  9. 1. Hurts Like Heaven 2. Paradise 3. Charlie Brown 4. Every Teardrop 5. Major Minus 6. Moving To Mars 7. Us Against The World
  10. This ^^ Just to throw another spanner in the works, Coldplay have the set-up of a rock band. And they play stadiums. So, stadium-rock?

  12. If you think every Muse song sounds the same, you should play Soldier's Poem, I Belong To You, Exogenesis Part 1, Megalomania and Knights of Cydonia one after the other. As for the lyrics thing, I won't name every one, but a highlight is "I've had recurring nightmares I was loved for who I am, and missed the opportunity to be a better man."
  13. I have to say, I'm a fan of Lost+. If Jay-Z had told us all about his bitches and bling, I'd hate it, but it's pretty profound what he says. That's an unpopular opinion I'm sure, but hey :P

You should get off the forum. You can't cope when someone disagrees with you, you're borderline insulting, and you haven't got a clue what you're talking about. But don't worry, I won't be commenting in this again. Oh, and by the way, when you made the comment about me being 19, I'm a musician myself, a pianist and string-arranger and I know quite a fair bit technically about music. You made yourself look pretty silly.

Shut the door on your way out.
  16. Ideally I'd like Spike Jonze to direct one. Though this is easily my favourite video ever.
  17. Yeah, I noticed "Every tear every tear every teardrop is a waterfall" in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall.
  18. I wouldn't call MX straight-up pop.
  19. I'd agree about Gorillaz being alt-hiphop, and parts of Demon Days, but Plastic Beach era? Rhinestone Eyes, On Melancholy Hill, Some Kind of Nature, Pirate Jet, Empire Ants, Broken, To Binge and Doncamatic are all straight-up, unashamed pop songs. But quite simply, what does it matter? Take That are one of the biggest pop bands in the world, but Gary Barlow is a well-respected musician, songwriter and singer. Can't the same be said of Chris Martin?
  20. You could compare it to anyone with an acoustic guitar. Johnny Cash, Jeff Buckley, that gimp from The Wanted...
  21. She's how I picture the girl in the song. Hype Williams is incompetent though. -.-
  22. If it's an alien in a new world, it could be Marty McFly in 1955. But no, I think this is nonsense. :P

Jacknife Lee's a very average producer, and Snow Patrol are an average Coldplay. I'm with Parrotdies on this. Something orchestral would be lovely. I've said before, I want Coldplay to release an In Rainbows. And that includes a Bodysnatchers-type tune :P
  24. Muse were brilliant but they didn't make me feel special inside like Coldplay :P
