  1. Thank you so much! Just ran right over to coldplay.com after reading this. Pity we don't get Will singing, but it's fantastic nonetheless. I love how they said they play it at concerts "with a twist."
  2. ...that radio contest they were holding in LA? The one where you can win a Coldplay concert in your living room? Anyone know if someone won that yet? I was just watching the amazon.co.uk video where Chris and Jonny play the sparsely acoustic Lovers in Japan, with Chris on the little keyboard. And it sounded just incredible. Couldn't help thinking, "THIS is how it would sound in my house." Just wondering how that whole thing turned out, considering it's like the ULTIMATE Coldplay prize. Hope it went to someone deserving!
  3. 05.14.05 U2 08.07.05 Coldplay 04.06.06 Coldplay 06.27.06 Keane 04.14.07 The Feeling 04.28.07 The Killers 05.27.07 Keane 07.07.07 Live Earth 07.21.07 Keane 05.18.08 Kanye West 06.23.08 Coldplay 06.27.08 Coldplay All the major recent ones! Coldplay four times and Keane three times (including once across the pond in London). Really wish I got to see Muse during this time period though, missed their show at MSG last summer! AND I think I'll be seeing Sigur Rós in October. Absolutely can't wait for that!
  4. "Mercury's in retrograde" would refer to a retrograde rotation, where a planet rotates opposite to the direction it revolves around the Sun. (This could refer to any celestial body...moons, etc.) Venus is the only planet that actually has a retrograde rotation. Just think of it spinning backwards. Hence, Mercury doesn't rotate in a retrograde fashion, making the statement that everything is essentially really screwed up. Hope that helps! :laugh4: /sciencegeekrant As to the song itself, I was kind of on the fence about Mercury for a while, but it's seriously grown on me. At first, I felt it was a little bit too much like a Kele solo single. After a couple listens though, I really like the lyrics and the meaning behind them and the electronic style is actually really working for me. It's going to be interesting to see how the rest of the album pans out, whether it's going to be all like this Mercury/Flux style or that of Silent Alarm or a mixture of both. Who knows? Maybe they've switched it up entirely. Think this could end up being Bloc Party's Kid A?
  5. This is made by the same people who made that dance remix of the Bill O'Reilly freakout a few months ago. I remember seeing it on their Youtube page until they got a copyright notice from EMI. I don't really understand the significance of it, but it's not awful.
  6. From the official rules: Looks like the winner(s) will miss out on three of the concerts then. Whoops!
  7. Good point on Strawberry Swing--I really think it could be the song of the album this year. Let's be honest, the song was practically made for summer. Release it now!!
  8. 18 here. Fan since...2002, I believe? A Rush of Blood to the Head came out and introduced me to actual good music! Trust me, before then, my taste was bad...
  9. I have the first and third shirts in that set. I bought the black one with "VIVA" on it because there were none of the blue ones left at the MSG merch stand. Then, as I was leaving, there was a little smaller merch thing on the concourse and I remarked to my friend, "Oh, there's the shirt I wanted, guess they have it here." And the lady working it was just like, "You want it? Take it. Show's over anyway." For free! And they say there aren't nice people in NYC... :laugh4:
  10. Yeah, I thought he was really good myself. The only time I remember him sounding downright terrible was during Yellow (which I think would be the reason they cut it). He even acknowledged that himself during that performance, though. And he did stop singing the end of In My Place when he was in the middle of the crowd, but that was more from sheer amazement, I think. If you watch the bit online, it seems like he's basically thinking to himself, "I can't believe there's so many people here at this time." Really good stuff, actually.
  11. I finally got all my photos uploaded to Facebook with 106 pictures in all! So here they are, spread across 2 albums. Facebook assures me that this is public access, so I hope it works for everybody! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2001912&l=6806b&id=1475340071 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2001913&l=6e69e&id=1475340071
  12. Well, that article rings true for me, at least. So I suppose they consider me a "basic" level white person. :laugh4: Sorry I don't list Radiohead as my favorite band and exude pretentiousness, Vanity Fair.
  13. I can't even describe what Will looks like in the 2000 videos. Honestly, doesn't look like him. For a second, I was like, "Why would they use a backup drummer at Glastonbury?" And then I realized it was him with hair. Think it works better for him without it, personally.
  14. Don't I recall Perez really liking Coldplay? He even liked them as recently as the release of the Violet Hill video. What happened? Not like I care anyway. He can go on recommending his horrible, awful Europop-trashy stuff. I think today he said that he liked the new Heidi Montag song. Good Lord.
  15. Here's a video of the Clocks soundcheck (first of four actual Clocks performances!) that I FINALLY got uploaded for you fine people after Youtube refused to cooperate last night:
  16. Finally got a Clocks video up! It's the first soundcheck of the day (first of four Clocks performances, actually!). The beginning of the first verse is cut, but it does include Chris' lyrical changings and a pretty sweet beatboxing moment! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L59UScFpVHY
  17. Masterkraig, did you have the homemade tye-dye shirt by any chance? If so, right next to you--thought you said you were from Coldplaying. I had a blue Viva La Vida shirt on from MSG. We made it like all over TV. Oh, and musicman, I think they played VLV before Lost! on the show. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you have that setlist perfect.
  18. I was directly on the side of the stage in the mid-levels of MSG (Section 210, to be exact) and when they played on the b-stage at the end of the walkway, I lost my view partially. The ball kept going up and down, and when it was at its highest, I had no view whatsoever!
  19. My friend attempted to get Chris to play Strawberry Swing. As we were right in front, he yelled out during the soundcheck, "CHRIS! CHRIS! PLAY STRAWBERRY SWING!" And Chris just gives him this funny "it's so early" look and says, "Can't you see we got a job to do, man?" and laughs. It was absolutely hysterical. Don't know if anyone else there actually happened to catch it?!
  20. So who was the girl and guy next to me whose names I never managed to catch? Homemade tye-dye T-shirts? Going absolutely crazy next to me on TV (in a good way, obviously!)? I'm pretty sure they said they were from Coldplaying!
  21. It's The Goldrush, right? I remember Chris mentioning this a little while ago.
  22. There's me, too! With my hands up, right over Al Roker's shoulder!
  23. I posted this in the live section, but thought I'd add it over here, too!
