Mixtape Exchange #16 [Mixtapes due 25/11]
I've always had the belief that you should always give yourself time with an album before you start making judgements. That's why I've given myself a week to settle down with my given mixtape and properly listen to it time and time again. And yes, that is my legitimate excuse for not handing in my review sooner :P

Mixtape Exchange #16 [Mixtapes due 25/11]
Question: Does it have to be MP3? I'm a big fan of AAC M4A files myself. It's the type of audio encoding that iTunes uses to distribute music, so it's not one of those weird bare-unplayable file types like FLAC.

Embrace!!!!!
I feel like Embrace are going to do 16 more live shows before they release a new album. A lot of people have been waiting a good 7 years for this album; an album which was apparently topped off in March.

LP6
I heard apparently that LP6 was going to revert to the Rush of Blood sounds.

What is THE rarest Coldplay release?
Has anyone on this thread mentioned the "White Shadows" promo sent to Mexican radio in 2007? I heard if you find a copy of that, you are officially the king of collectors. It's that fucking rare. I don't think there's even any pics or any description to what the promo actually looks like, to my knowledge. All that anybody knows is that it exists, and the song charted at #87 on the Mexican Singles Chart in mid 2007. I believe it was released to Mexican radio to coincide with the Latin American leg of the Twisted Logic Tour.

Favorite album opener/closer?
Opener: "Life in Technicolor" / "Cemeteries of London" To a degree, there couldn't have been anything else to open an album such as Viva other than the rhythmic/dark overtone that "Life in Technicolor" and "Cemeteries of London" had. Just the first verse of "Cemeteries" alone, when Chris sings for the first time on the album, sets the mood perfectly for the entire 45 minutes. Closer: "Twisted Logic" Going out with a bang is always the best option. Especially after an hour-long roller coaster ride that is X&Y. "Twisted Logic" is the perfect closer to an album that essentially was a very melodramatic contrast of soft ballads and loud rockers, effectively closing with an compression of the collective sound of all 11 tracks that precede it. What ever sounds X&Y produced as a whole can be found in this climactic explosion, and that's a good way to end an album. Summarise yourself and go out with a bang.

Best Coldplay song live?!?!!
"Warning Sign" and "Fix You", particularly during the Mylo Xyloto Tour. I went to the Mylo Xyloto Tour in Sydney, and just how the whole stadium sang along with the song was just something special. I'll never forget when they all sang "Lights will guide you home... and ignite your bones... and I will try... to Fix You". Almost made me cry, to be honest!

B-Sides: Their Best Work
Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Why are Coldplay's B-sides usually better than the singles themselves? I owned a copy of the "Fix You" single when I was younger, and I would always play the shit out of "The World Turned Upside Down"! "X and Y... the land, sea, rivers, trees... the stars, the sky" Such an amazing song!

First Coldplay Song You Ever Heard?
"Speed of Sound" was the first Coldplay song I ever heard. It was on the radio, and my father gave me a copy of X&Y as a birthday present. It was the first album I ever owned, and I still love the album as equally as I did on the first listen, even today!

Another piece of music for Catching Fire - 'We're A Team'
This. "Atlas" is a Hunger Games song now, and Howard could've easily used the melody from "Atlas" in the score. It's been done many times before. For example, the Titanic score by James Horner had numerous samples of the theme song "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. And don't forget the James Bond films. Most recently Skyfall, where the score had numerous samples of the theme song, Adele's "Skyfall", especially it's chorus. Don't get too terribly excited guys.
