  6. Prime Minister John Key said New Zealand had lost one of its best-loved authors. The famed New Zealand author died yesterday in Christchurch following a brief illness, aged 76. Mahy, who held the country's highest royal honour - membership of the Order of New Zealand - wrote 100 picture books, 40 novels and 20 collections of short stories. Her works were translated into 15 languages. Mahy's books, stories and contributions to the New Zealand School Journal had been part of children's lives for generations, Mr Key said. "She is widely acknowledged as one of this country's finest authors, and one of the world's greatest writers of children's and young adults'…

Ok so i just got a new acer aspire laptop and i bought it primarily for recorrding music. I bought cakewalk music creator 5 software and also downloaded audacity. However whenever i try to record (mainly when i try to sustain a note) my audio will suddenly drop and then fade in and out and it sounds like its coming out of a glass bowl. Obviously this is something with the laptop's input settings and not the programs as it happens in both of them. Any and all help is much appreciated. :)

Supreme Court upholds Obamacare 5-4 Washington (CNN) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the controversial health care law championed by President Barack Obama in a landmark decision that will impact the November election and the lives of every American. In a 5-4 ruling, the high court decided the individual mandate requiring people to have health insurance is valid as a tax, even though it is impermissible under the Constitution's commerce clause. "In this case, however, it is reasonable to construe what Congress has done as increasing taxes on those who have a certain amount of income, but choose to go without health insurance," Chief Justice John Robe…

A few minutes ago, my beloved ipod touch slipped from my hands and into a sink of water. Totally wet but I quickly dried it off. I'm afraid I did the stupid thing of trying to turn it back on for a split second, however. It's now in a bag covered with white rice. How long do you have to wait to see if it works? Is 24 hours enough time or could it be tested before then?

  15. PayPal Bans Major File-Hosting Services Over Piracy Concerns In recent weeks, PayPal has cut off many of the world’s largest filehosting sites from its service including MediaFire, Putlocker and DepositFiles. Growing concern over copyright infringement has resulted in an extremely strict and in some cases privacy-violating set of requirements being laid down by the payment processing company. Cyberlocker owners are disappointed with the apparent witch-hunt which in some cases is paralyzing their business. More than half a year after Megaupload was shuttered by the U.S. Government and the file-hosting industry is still in peril. Hollywood has painted a target on s…

His name is Dave Fishwick. He is a self-made millionaire (supplying minibuses) from Burnley. Neither of these facts begins to convey the man. He's a quart of fizzing energy crammed into a pint pot. He is a study in entrepreneurial spirit and the quintessence of northern-ness in one. Imagine the naivete of George Formby combined with the steely inner resolve of an Alan Sugar before he became, well, quite so risibly Alan Sugar…

  21. Not exactly "art", but art related and believe me: I can draw much better than this:P A short background story: a couple of months ago I was developing a project about fans and the idea of showing the positive sides of fandoms, not just the "fanatic" elements because of a contest where you could win a scolarship in a famous art-design institute. Anyway, I was writing down many ideas when I had free time, and while I was on a train going back home I put down in 10 minutes something about an interactive exhibition. The main idea was to offer an experience, not just showing photos, video and memorabilia around as usual, and let visitors be inside and around the concert exp…

On November 8, the FBI, the NASA-OIG and Estonian police arrested several cyber criminals in “Operation Ghost Click”.
