This is the new logo for the 2012 Olympics. The "iconic brand" was a year in the making and the designers hope it will go some way to helping bring in the £2bn needed to host the games in London. But the design is likely to spark some public debate. The bold, jagged emblem is based on the date "2012" comes in a series of very bright shades of pink, blue, green and orange in a modern take on the Olympic colours. The word "London" and the Olympic rings are included in the first two digits. "It has a movement to it and it will evolve and change," a London 2012 spokeswoman said. London 2012 organising committee chairman Seb Coe said: "This is the visi…

I am using Win XP, and it comes with a firewall, which I have never really done anything with. A friend got a virus, even though he had Norton on his system, and later was told that a firewall would have helped him. I heard that if you are using free anti-virus, that it is better to use the free Zonealarm firewall then the WinXP firewall. Is it because the Zonealarm firewall is more user friendly? If so, that would be my best bet because I am still learning my way around the internet... Is there anyone out there who knows how to make their pc more secure? I would be greatful for any help. I dont want to get hacked or my computer to get a virus...:o

The son of Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour has apologised for climbing on to the Cenotaph during Thursday's tuition fees demonstration. Charlie Gilmour, 21, a history student at Girton College, Cambridge, could be questioned by police after he was photographed swinging from a flagpole on the monument. A 19-year-old has already been questioned about damage to the Cenotaph. Mr Gilmour said he was "mortified" by his "moment of idiocy". He added that he wanted to express his "deepest apologies for the terrible insult to the thousands of people who died bravely for our country", and said he did not realise what the monument was. The musician adopted Charlie upon mar…

Anyone else like them? Mystery Science Theater 3000 (or MST3K for short) was a tv show on a few years back where an old movie was made fun of by robots in the "audience" at the bottom of the screen. This is one of my favorite episodes, I can't find the whole thing but only a "best of" on Youtube. [ame= ] [/ame] The show was taken off the air, and they now do "Rifftrax". Basically, you buy the movie, and then buy and download the commentary from their site. Or, if you are cheap like me, you watch more "best of"s from Youtube. They've riffed most new movies and the more famous older ones, like The Sixth Sense. Some examples: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?…

The TV series I mean :P, I think it deserves a thread of its own. Reviews By ROBERT ABELE Wednesday, July 19, 2006 - 12:00 pm It’s a breezily simple story to explain: 2006 cop becomes 1973 cop. Detective Sam Tyler (John Simm) is a smart-suited, sensitively hip Manchester crime fighter with the latest technological advances in perp tracking at his disposal. But when a car hits him one day during the hunt for a serial killer, he wakes up a policeman in a very different world: one of wide lapels and sideburns, crackly radios instead of cell phones, unchecked police brutality and the blaring sounds of The …
