Tunisia's President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali has stepped down after 23 years in power, amid widespread protests on the streets of the capital Tunis. In a televised address, Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi said he would be taking over from the president. A state of emergency was declared earlier, as weeks of protests over economic issues snowballed into rallies against Mr Ben Ali's rule. Unconfirmed reports say Mr Ben Ali and his family have left Tunisia. The reports suggest that the deposed president is looking for a place of asylum, with French media saying that French President Nicolas Sarkozy has turned down a request for his plane to land in France. So, I love Ricky and I thought the Globes would have been a bomb if he hadn't of hosted!!! He said things other people wish they had the balls to say. People are also ragging on Robert Downey Jr. for his comment on stage to Ricky, but they are friends and it was "Tongue in cheek" type jab to him. Did anyone watch, and what do you think?? Ricky has said today "I'm not doing the Globes again"

  4. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=257swlMMxmA]YouTube - 10 Questions for Jimmy Wales[/ame] Wikipedia is too complicated for many people to modify despite billing itself as "the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit", its founder has said. Jimmy Wales told BBC News the site wants a new generation of contributors, including more women. The online encyclopedia, which is 10 years old on 15 January, is the world's fifth most popular site. It aims to increase its users from 400m to 1bn by 2015. But growth requires a new interface, said Mr Wales. "We have to support our old power users because they build the site," he said. "But we also need to have a ramp for…

  5. Lofthouse scored 255 goals for Bolton Bolton Wanderers and England legend Nat Lofthouse has died at the age of 85. The striker, who scored 255 goals in over 450 games for the Trotters between 1946 and 1960, died peacefully in his sleep at a nursing home in Bolton. "He was a one-club man and our football club meant as much to him as he did to us," said chairman Phil Gartside. Lofthouse OBE, who worked for Bolton in a number of roles after he hung up his boots, also scored 30 goals in 33 matches for England. Those roles included chief coach, chief scout, caretaker and club president, with Lofthouse holding the last position until his death. "I would li…

Just finished reading a beautiful poem by Simon Starrie. Thought I'd share... A poem to help those troubled in the small hours I’ll hug you and hold you shake off your fears and doubts take your demons and cast them out One by one they leave and its just you and me Lay yourself down, and let yourself dream Friends, some invisible, love you very much, And while you sleep, they lend a loving touch. You have qualities, hidden and seen Drift away, let yourself dream. You’ll be fine, everything will be okay Let yourself sleep, and drift away. Its dark but you have such colour, It’s just you, but you need no other. You’ve been throu…

Saw this in the paper, and thought it had to be a joke. Apparently someone recently complained to the CBSC, over the use of an anti-gay term deemed offensive (and it is offensive), contained within the Dire Straits hit "Money for Nothing." And so, 25-years after the song became a hit single, it has been banned in its original form, though an edited version can be aired. The song is not intended to be anti-homosexual, and it really isn't. I have a lot of gay friends, who find this far sillier than I do. Mostly, I find it sad, in this day and age, the complainant found nothing more pertinent to fight for, whether it be in his/her municipality, country or within t…

  14. Tampa airport runways renumbered due to magnetic north movement January 10, 2011 by Lin Edwards (PhysOrg.com) -- The magnetic north pole is slowly moving, and the shift is affecting runways at airports in Tampa, Florida, with the major runway at Tampa International Airport closed until January 13th to allow for the signage to be changed and numeric designators at each end of the runway to be repainted. The primary runway at the airport is designated 18R/36L, which means the runway is aligned along 180 degrees from north (that is, due south) when approached from the north and 360 degrees from north when approached from the south. Now the Federal Aviation Adminis…

I wrote a letter to the big wig of customer service stating how unacceptable it is for something that you pay so much for and expect quality, should break 4 times. NO REPLY. I will be getting down to some serious angry phone calls in the new year. I am a IT and Multimedia student, thus feeling lost without my best friend and obviously need it for coursework :\

It won't stop closing itself though, and it doesn't actually close in a way cause I have to go into my task manager and close it when it does it. The only thing I know of to prevent it is have more than one tab open so instead of closing it asks me if I want to save my tabs or whatever it asks you. :mean:

Taken from another forum ( sorry to steal but it seemed a good idea) What do you think will happen in the world or your own country in 2011 --- Due to the constant leaks from the website wiki leaks and what could be soon renamed under a different guise, Western Governments will pass emergency laws bringing in tighter controls on what is posted on the internet, and what news stories the media can report. China will take over the government in North Korea, as they will carry on become more instable to the far east. There will be a vote of no confidence in the Government however they will just get it though, the votes on further benefit cuts will be a real …

He claimed rent for his own flat in London and rent for a house in Bury, which was owned by his mother. He would have been the first Parliamentarian to stand trial over his expenses but changed his plea before it was due to start on Monday. Chaytor stood down as an MP at the general election - having been barred by Labour from standing for them again. He was granted unconditional bail and will be sentenced on 7 Jan…
