April 7, 200323 yr what's coming out now isnt punk rock....that's pop that's what i think.... :) me too :)
April 12, 200323 yr I thought that punk was a neat idea, because it wasnt even an idea, it stemmed from nowhere... Instead of trying to be good they just played what came to them, if it made them famous then much the better, they werent TRYING to be great bands or gain such recognitions as being brilliant, but they made music, got a reaction and stirred things up. In my opinion it began to get out of hand when the Sex Pistols came out, the deathrock scene in the late 70's was an underground unheard of punk thing (With some actually good bands like Black Flag) and it died off but the Sex Pistols then took this punk thing and basically did what bands such as American Hi Fi or Avril Lavigne are doing now, posed it up. Phrases such as sarcastic "God save the queen, the fashion regime" and "Nobody likes us, and we dont care" proved this, and it pisses me off to see people having respect for them as the pioneers of 80's punk. Sickening. Avril Lavigne is not punk, she can say she IS A punk and quite frankly I dont care but none of her songs are even remotely punk. The closest is SK8ER BOI (In TXT LGNGE of course!) but it represents none of the aspects of punk, ever.
April 13, 200323 yr grunge would kick the arses of anything we have now i hope garage rock dies soon im glad numetals dead i dont ever wanna hear the term nu-grnge again we're half way through hip-hop and alternative is the only decent genre left well you can forget about that....when does an original music scene ever come back? people try and nothing turns out the way it was intended. maybe some form of grunge will appear, but it will never be like the way it use to. like this socalled punk music. i'm talking about what they play now....that's not punk. sounds like britney spears trying to go bad ass. it's stupid. i guess its the next big thing? it's like they never stop! all these bands coming out sounding "punk".
April 15, 200323 yr death to punk bring back the stone roses! i dont want grunge to come back and punk rock in any form in shite full stop.

July 17, 200323 yr Excuser moi? Blink 182's old stuff was really awesome! Songs like Josie and Man Overboard were the best :D
July 17, 200323 yr when punk was started, punk meant "anti-pop" and "breaking all the rules of music" and singing about anti-something. Most of the time it was about the government. Nowadays, kids pick up a guitar, play a poppy chord progression in the form of power chords, sing about girls, and call themselves punk. Nowadays, punk is all in the look. Punk is a huge mainstream market nowadays, and heavily abused by the industry and kids who want to make it big playing that crap. Here's an example... The Ataris' new hit is the 80s Don Henley hit "Boys of Summer" its a pop song, that song cannot be punk, because of the lyrics. In order to maintain their "punk" look, the singer wore a shirt saying "Who the Fuck is Don Henley?" punk should have a new name nowadays: Hardore Pop
July 17, 200323 yr Phrases such as sarcastic "God save the queen' date=' the fashion regime" and "Nobody likes us, and we dont care" proved this, and it pisses me off to see people having respect for them as the pioneers of 80's punk. Sickening.[/quote'] its facist regime actually. i think they expressed themselves pretty well actually, opened the eyes of some people and summed up the general feel of late 70s/early 80s Britain. but i don't think they are the big influence on the punks. forget all the commercial shite you hear, that's not punk.
July 17, 200323 yr remeber the only decent song blink 182 did was all the small things but like all ok songs got played way to much nah, 'Dammit' is.
