so what now?

I have to go to shower and bed.

goodnight

Night. and yes, let's. I've forgotten so much about that book. Like the whole bit with Bellatrix Lestrange...

Well Karkaroff wasn't the only deatheater shown in the pensieve was he? I thought Harry flashed back to seeing her in the pensieve during OOTP.

no, she wasn't really of importance until the last movie. But as I don't currently have the book lying around, I'll just wait til Nick tells us.

you could just tell what was being implied.;)

One has to wonder how much of the series Jo had visuazed from the start. To bring up Stephen King again, he says that he rarely ever knows how his book will end when he starts writing. He often writes in real time, imagining things as they happen, and seeing where they lead.

So at which point did Rowling dream up the idea of Harry being the seventh horcrux? Was it from the very beginning, or did she not even invent the idea of horcruxes until book six?

I mean there's so much information in the first few books that is vital to the way Deathly Hallows played out. It could be that she sketched the whole series out from the beginning, or maybe she was clever enough to twist some things along the way.

She did change her mind on some things, like substituting Arthur Weasley's death for Sirius Black. But the locket for instance...Jo mentioned so many little objects and things in the Black household. Is it possible that, before writing HBP, she went back through those early chapters of OOTP and picked out something she could use later on. Same maybe with the vanishing cabinets.

Back to what we were talking about, during GOF she probably hadn't completely invented the character that was "Bellatrix Lestrange" when she wrote about the witch in the Pensieve. But just added her in as a sort of silhouette she could fill in later. Now, I have a feeling she had planned many characters and events far ahead from book one, after all, she wrote the prologue while writing POA. But it's hard to believe she didn't improvise at least a little bit along the way...

I believe she had quite a bit planned out already. It's nearly impossible to have that many twist and turns come out that well without planning ahead of time. But you never can be positive.

My favorite author as a kid, Louis Sachar, wrote the book Holes. He said he just wrote as he went and never planned things ahead of time, and that book had some of the most intriguing plot twists I've ever read.

I loved Holes!

That was the first book we did in our book discussion class when I home-schooled as a kid. Read it way before the movie came out, and I thought it was brilliant the way she transitioned between the past and present.

Louis Sachar is a man, dude:lol:

phaile :P Sorry, it was a long time ago so I must've misread your post to say louise or lois or I forgot you were talking about Jo when you mentioned"she".

most of the pics are photoshopped beyond belief

what the hell is with the rest?

I don't think they're photoshopped (except for the animated one of course). The first was a real promo pic for Equus, and the one with Rupert is a still from his recent film "Cherrybomb". They're different girls in each pic, just so you know. :P
