*Sarah*
of course, i already know every song by heart, so i'm prepared for next week  quite free is my fav, too! although, i think the song meanings are sometimes very hard to understand on this album. basically i love fran's lyrics, but sometimes it's really hard to figure out what the songs are about, hehe. the hitcher
of course, i already know every song by heart, so i'm prepared for next week  quite free is my fav, too! although, i think the song meanings are sometimes very hard to understand on this album. basically i love fran's lyrics, but sometimes it's really hard to figure out what the songs are about, hehe. Fran said at the gig on Monday that the new album is about a fictional character called J. Smith and that each song was kind of like a chapter in his life and the album was like a book of his life (regarding the lyrics). Each song is related to a different part of his life. I can't remember exactly what he said, but that's what the lyrics are about roughly :D
*Sarah*
then his life must have been totally confusing at times! haha ^^
the hitcher
^ ^ haha yeah. I really love this new album, had it on constantly since I bought it on Monday. 'Last Words' is amazing reminds me of Turin Brakes (not sure if you've heard of them but if not check them out, really great band from the UK). As you know I love 'Quite Free'. 'Something Anything' and 'Long Way Down' are just so rocking, love them! Great album, you're gonna love the new stuff live! I think the album is amazing but you gotta hear the new songs live to fully enjoy them.

Fixed
Chinese Blues was a great opener, I love it. What was that video they played before they came on stage?
*Sarah*
thanks barry, sounds very good! :) @fixed (what's your name?): this is the current intro The film Travis use at the start of the shows was shot especially for use on the tour. The dialogue is from a 1976 film called Network. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QMBZDwf9dok I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!" the hitcher
Chinese Blues was a great opener, I love it. What was that video they played before they came on stage? I thought that too, the lights mixed with the powerful beat and piano chords was a perfect way to open the gig. The whole gig was amazing, seen them 5 times and that was one the best I've been to :D Thanks for the quote by the way Sarah :D
Plug_in_coldplaying
Didyou see Coldplay on those many gigs? :o
StephenG
Saw them at Newcastle last night, great gig lasted about 4 hours including the opening act. Travis played 2 hours with no breaks, mostly their hits, some stuff from the new album and one song from Good Feeling and 12 Memeries. They played I kissed a girl and Why does it always rain on me as an oncore. Some people got so drunk they ended up having a fit and got escorted out. Gave me a chance to swipe one of the posters. Black Rose
For the other UK dates, what are the rough timings of support coming on stage etc?
StephenG
The support act Republican Tigers played a set of about 11 songs. Then Travis came on after a 10 minute sound test. They played for about 2 hours.

Black Rose
I Kissed a girl and liked it... Right, having just returned from wet and windy south coast, where it's wet and also very windy, it was a very good concert (although it doesn't beat the show from February), good mix of songs from the new album and old albums, plus the I Kissed a Girl cover they are doing at all the UK dates (video coming) Pictures will be done when I get around to sorting them out, but did I mention it's wet and windy? (and it's Portsmouth's streets 1, David's sense of direction 0, as I kinda got lost, as I missed a junction which wasn't frecking marked and ended up in the city centre before heading south following streets, varing between 20 and 30 mph speed limits, until I reached the south road, where parking was free if you parked on the side of the road in a marked bay, but if you parked in the leisure centre car-park you had to pay) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCmCd6qRKLI]YouTube - Travis - I Kissed a Girl - Live at Portsmouth[/ame] I must try and work out how to get my camera to record longer than 3 minutes
